Introduction
The four quadrants’ of Johari Window allows us to look ourselves objectively. With the help
of these results we can explore our personality on two levels, first we can check that what are
the shortcomings that we have in our personality and second we can see that what are the
shortcomings that others are witnessing in our personality, the results of the GEIT can be
seen from the point of view of the Johari Window quite effectively (Gupta, 2017).
What I think of myself and how others look at me can be entirely different. Knowingly or
unknowingly we send some signals during our social interactions and people around us builds
perceptions about us based on the hints or the signals. In the current assignment, I am
comparing the results of GEIT test with an intention to figure out the fact that what my
friends think about me and what is my perception about myself.
Part 1
Peer review by my friends
The assessment of my friends about me gives me an idea that I am bold and expressive, I can
allocate these two adjectives from the list of the Johari adjectives because both my friends
gave me a score of 9 in relationship management and self-awareness. My personal
assessment score of 6 and 7 in the same field gives me an idea that I am not aware of my own
personality up to a great extent, a low score in the field of relationship management also
gives me an idea that I am not good at handling my social affairs and it might become
difficult for me to act as a team player on some occasions (Kadir, 2016).

The results of the Johari window can be applied to various management based phenomenon
and they can be effectively used in the process of fixing social and team dynamism. The same
results also highlight my ability to adjust to the team. My scores based on my own
assessment in the test bring me in the arena region of the Johari window. The arena region in
my views is the best region. This is the region where a self-aware person can improve his
personality and keep a check on certain traits (Yildiz, 2015).
Social awareness and self-management are two areas where I think I am better and my
friends perceive that I am not good at them. My relatively high scores in the field of self-
management indicate that I have a strong presence in the Arena quadrant of the Johari
window. My score in the field of social management gives me an idea that I can manage
myself to fit into the needs of any team or organization (Santos, 2017).
My friends think that I am good in terms of self-awareness and relationship management. I
can say that I am in the arena quadrant of the Johari window because my friends are aware of
my strengths. It also means that they think that I am competitive and I have a better chance to
attract a position and show my suitability for a post. Since they gave me a low score in the
area of self-management it indicates that they don’t consider me as a person with great
adaptability in certain areas (Heffernan, 2016).
The results of GEIT are not all about high marks; their placement in the Johari Window
always allows us to figure out the right mix of a personality and personality projection. On
the bottom line, I can also make a remark that both my friends think that I am good at
projecting a nice personality; however, I can suffer while making amendments in the
personality (Celenegoh, 2017).

My strength and Weaknesses
I gained a score in the range of 56-75 in the GEIT test, this score implies that my emotional
IQ is on the higher side. While printing the results GEIT experts also made a remark that
since I am an emotional person, I will make some long-lasting relationships with my friends
and others. Apart from it, I will emerge as a leader because I am considerate for the others.
On the downside, the same results say that sometimes I will ignore my personal needs
because of this emotional nature (Naik, 2017).
When I give a holistic look at the findings of both the tests, I find that my biggest strength is
associated with the fact that I can mold myself under any condition and I am ready to learn. I
somehow feel lucky that I am not in the façade quadrant of the Johari window (Fulton, 2015).
It is true that having a good façade can help you in making quick and easy entries in the
setups. However, in order to sustain yourself with the raised expectations, you need certain
other traits. In my case, I can see that my emotional intelligence is my biggest asset. It indeed
connects me to the people on an interpersonal level and allows me to form some relationships
that last for long.
My presence in the arena quadrant with a low score in the department of relationship
management can be considered as a big cause of worry for me. On the first look, it seems
contradictory, the prediction associated with my results says that I can form emotional bonds,
however, my scores in the area of relationship management tells me a different story
altogether. The sum of both these activities clearly tells me that I am not good at the
management of certain formal relationships (Frey, 2018). This I believe is my biggest
weakness, it also pinpoints that sometimes I am not able to express myself, I am not good at
exchanging social pleasantries and most of all sometimes I fail to see the demands of the
others from any given situation.

The competencies that I would like to develop as a responsible citizen
The presence of an individual in the arena quadrant of the Johari window clearly gives an
indication that an individual is standing at the juncture point where he is able to express
himself and receive good ideas from the society at the same time. Rest of the three quadrants
of the Johari window somehow blocks this ongoing communication which is necessary.
There is no harm in having wrong notions unless you are ready to improve them. The
presence in the arena quadrant of the Johari window signifies a constant journey of an
individual.
The results of the tests and my placement in the Johari window, tells me that I need to
develop focus as a prime competency. The results clearly say that somehow I am not able to
understand the needs of the others. Development of focus will help me in analyzing the
situation well. As a responsible citizen of the society, it is very important to see certain
issues from the point of view of the others as well. Here I would refer to the philosophy given
by Thomas Jefferson. He promoted this philosophy with an intention to inflict good
citizenship qualities in the natives of a great nation that was all set to write its fortune.
According to him “the personal freedom of a person ends when it starts interrupting the
freedom of the others and causes discomfort to the civic and social norms as developed by the
society. The scores that I gained in these tests clearly indicate that I am not good at striking
and maintaining formal relationships with the individuals.
Social awareness is the key area where I need to develop a set of traits with an intention to
develop competencies. When I relook at my answers given during the test, now I feel that
something was wrong in my attitude and perception related to the social equations. As an

individual, it is very important to learn from the shortcomings and upgrade oneself in
accordance with the needs of society.
Retrospection is another area where I need to work hard; I am a part of a society and I need to
change my personality in accordance with the social norms. My results in the GEIT test
clearly indicate that I am not able to cope up well with my formal relationships in society. I
need to work upon my social skills at an interpersonal level where I should try to listen to the
other mores and draw conclusions from any given situation.
Conclusion
My personal score in and its placement in the Johari window gives me an idea that I should
learn a few things to readjust my image projection and listen to others more attentively. My
presence in the arena quadrant of the Johari window makes me an individual who is easily
accessible and ready to change himself with an intention to mingle with the team and the
society largely (Ohtla, 2017). My placement in the Arena quadrant of the Johari window is a
fair placement and it describes that I am an outgoing person and people knows me well for
my virtues and shortcomings. I am passing through a phase of my studies and career were
staying in Arena quadrant is the most progressive path. In the future when I will become a
task-oriented leader, sometime it will become necessary for me to join the quadrant of façade.
However, right now I am passing through a phase where the quadrant of the arena is best for
me.
Self-awareness and self-management are two areas where I need to strike a balance. As I can
learn it from the scores given by my friends, they think that I am good at the scale of self-
awareness, however, this awareness does not reflect in my self-management skills. On a
broader level of understanding, I can say that my friends think that I am a self-absorbed

individual and I am not able to see the opinions of others after a point of time. On a personal
