can help an individual to achieve the objectives or their desired goals.
Benefits of emotional intelligence in workplace
Emotional intelligence provides several benefits to the individuals in the workplace. The team
work of the individual is increased as the co-ordination and understanding of people's emotions
assists in creating stronger bonds. The individual who is emotionally intelligent can cope up
easily with work place stress when compared to others.
This workshop programme will incorporate several activities which would assist in increasing
the emotional intelligence of the individuals. The barriers to these activities and diversifications
along with the timing for each activity have been provided below.

Activity 1:
Workshop on emotional intelligence
An activity on Emotional Intelligence and its importance (30 minutes)
This activity would help the individuals to expand their emotional intelligence, cope better with
the work place environment and provide other benefits.
The first step that would be taken in this activity is giving individuals a case study and
filling out a sheet regarding the way they would react emotionally intelligent way. The
individuals would first be asked to reflect on their own emotions and the things they think
their emotions control.
A different sheet would be provided anonymously to various individuals in the workshop.
In this sheet, the individuals would fill emotional intelligence details they expect from
others.
The perspective of an individual would be filled out in the sheets which will help people
understand the things that they should focus on, regarding their emotions. This would
help in getting an open and unbiased view of the individual's expectation from others.
The questions that the individuals have regarding their emotional phases and how it
affects their work would be cleared by the other individual’s perspective. This would help
the people to understand the things they lack and the segments of emotions that they need
to work on.
The filled in questionnaire forms are to be collected and get evaluated by other students,
the scores of the assessment would help the individuals to understand their emotional
intelligence levels and how good/bad they are reacting for the same situation.
Distribute case study assessment papers
The next activity that would be used in the emotional intelligence workshop would be the
assessment. The materials regarding the emotional intelligence assessment would be
provided to the individuals that would contain questions regarding emotions. The scores

of the assessment would help the individuals to understand their emotional intelligence
quotient.
Activity 2:
Training and stress management
The training would comprise of communication skill training and mainly body language
training. A training regarding the way to work in a group would also be provided to the
individuals. The training would also comprise of increasing the organisational efficiency
of the individuals through creation of motivation.
The individuals would be taught the ways by which they can make criticism work in their
favour rather than taking it in the other way. The last part of training would include a
brief activity that would help in building the leadership skills in the individuals.
Developing stress management in the individuals and enhancing this skill would be
taught. The different ways to deal with stress would be taught to the individuals so that
they do not resort to wrong ways while stressed.
Then there will be application of emotional intelligence and the things that have been
taught in the class. This would be done through interactions between the individuals and
controlling the emotions in these conversations. In this conversation, the individuals
would be encouraged to understand others feelings completely without passing any
judgement.
Timing of each activity
The first activity would be the self-evaluation and the evaluation from a different
individual’s perspective. This activity would be the most fundamental and the opening
activity for the workshop. The time that would be provided for this activity would be
around 30 minutes.
After this, a 5 minute break would be provided to relax the individuals.

The next activity that would be the most significant activity would be training the
individuals. The first session of the training would be based on the communication skills
and group performance. This session would be conducted for half an hour.

can be imbibed and used. The activities are planned and organised in such a way that the proper
usage of the emotional intelligence can be done and the individuals can benefit from it.
Barriers to the activities
The first barrier that is created to emotional intelligence imbibement is the perception of an
individual regarding a thing or a person. The individual wants the things to happen in a certain
way that is considered perfect by the individual. This certain thinking, regarding a thing or an
individual creates barrier to emotional intelligence. Several individuals think that nothing is
going to change in the activities and actions and this creates a barrier in increasing their
emotional quotient. There are specific assumptions of the individuals regarding substances and
situations that lead to dissatisfaction and decreasing the emotional quotient of the individuals.
These assumptions must be cleared in order to be trained by the workshop. The lack of self-

knowledge and the self state of emotional being leads an individual to not understand what
thoughts or emotions are needed to be changed. The strong emotions in the individuals such as
pain fear or anger also leads to creation of barrier in increasing the emotional intelligence of the
individuals. There are several individuals that listen to what they want to hear rather than what
they need to listen. This leads to creating a barrier in their learning of emotional intelligence. Not
believing on other individuals’ perceptions and ideas also obstructs the learning process of the
individuals related to emotional intelligence.
Part 2
This workshop was created in order to make the individuals understand the benefits of emotional
intelligence and the ways in which individuals can increase their emotional intelligence. The first
part of the activity comprised of making the individuals understand the meaning of emotional
intelligence and the benefits that would be provided if they learn and master the skills of
emotional intelligence. The assessment was carried out in the workshop which aimed at
understanding the levels to which the individuals know themselves and their emotions. It was
conducted to understand the emotional quotient of the individuals and the points at which they
lack emotional intelligence. The assessment also comprised of conducting an assessment in
which the other people's perspective were noted. This would be done to ensure and provide
clarity and recognition to the individuals regarding their emotions.
The training would be conducted after the assessment. The training would be aimed at increasing
the skills that are significant for the advancement of emotional intelligence in the individuals.
This is also aimed at increasing the individuals thought process regarding criticism.
Communication and organisational efficiency is an aspect that needs to be taught to the
individuals so that their emotional intelligence can be increased. The stress is the most important
factor related to emotions and stress management. This stress management would help the
individuals to understand the ways they can cope up with stress and the things they do not need
to resort to while facing stress. The activities have been provided the timings according to the
needs of the workshop. Each activity has been provided small and greater time as the time that
would be required by the emotional intelligence needs. The barriers of the activity have been
