1. Overview of the case scenario
This specific case scenario depicts the importance of using project schedule and Work
Breakdown Structure for implementing any project in the real field of application. The case is
about relocation of a family of two adults Kelly and Jeff along with their two children Will and
Lexie (aged of 7 and 12 respectively), their dog (named Buddy) and a car. The current location
of Kelly and Jeff is Sunshine Coast, Qld. Kelly has recently secured a new job designation as a
marketing director interstate and mainly for this reason Kelly has to take a transfer to Perth with
the family.
The school terms in Perth starts from Wednesday 31st January. Thus, the relocation
project needs to be accomplished within Wednesday 31st January as the Will and Lexie want to
attend their classes from the very first day. The total budget that has been estimated for the
project is maximum $15,000. Therefore, the list of activities must be designed in such a way so
that it becomes completed within Wednesday 31st January and within the budget of $15,000.
2. The criteria and assumptions used for preparing the milestones
In order to accomplish the family relocation project the criteria and assumptions that are
to be considered are elaborated in the below section:
2.1 Criteria
 The new location that has been chosen by Kelly and Jeff should be pollution free
 Availability of transport communication
 Friendly neighbor
 Availability of medical stores and pet care nursing home near

 The project should be successfully completed within the budget of $15,000
 The timeline estimated for the project is before 31st January thus the relocation
with family must be completed within 31st January
2.2 Assumptions
After analyzing the entire case scenario, it has been defined that in order to accomplish
the relocation or transfer project the triple project constraints have been assumed in terms of
time, scope and budget. The scope of the project is to complete the entire family relocation to
Pert from Sunshine Coast, Qld in a eco friendly, pollution free environment, near to schools,
medical stores and of course to the new office. The affordable budget estimated by Jeff and
Kelly is $15,000 thus the project must be completed within this budget only. As the school terms
in Pert is commencing on 31st January therefore, it should be completed within maximum 30th
January.

3. Milestone plan (Refer to appendix 1)
For this specific project four different milestones are considered according to that the
project starts with project initiation and completed in project completion until the transfer session
completed. The total time estimated for the project is 55 days and the initial estimated budget is
14,691. However after analyzing the current condition of the project some days are added to it
for much accurate completion and with the addition the total time that is estimated for the project
is 77 and therefore, the new cost that has been calculated is 14,907. This new amount is again
within the budget affordable by Jeff and Kelly.
The four milestones nominated for this project are elaborated in the Appendix 1 section
4. A list of tasks (refer to appendix 2)
In order to accomplish the Jeff and Kelly family final relocation project to Perth the
project is subdivided into small parts. Different resources are assigned to each of those project
activities. It is their responsibilities to complete the assigned activities within the estimated
budget and timeline.
5. A Gantt chart
As the total budget estimated for the project is maximum $15,000 therefore in this phase
the project budget is being estimated and designed. The below section shows the name of the
resources and cost estimated for each activity.

After analyzing the entire project plan it is determined that for some of the activities the
estimated time is not sufficient therefore, additional time is assigned to some of the activities and
as a result the total budget has become 14,907 from 14,691. The changes done in this schedule
are also elaborated in this below section.

7. Personal reflection
From the overall discussion it has been defined that, in order to manage and accomplish
the relocation project it is very much crucial for the project manager to identify the potential
risks at the very project initiation phase along with the budget and timeline. In order to avoid
overrunning cost and over allocation of time it is much important to complete the job within
assigned period only. Apart from this the travelling cost, food cost, packaging and admission
details are also needed to be realized by both Kelly and Jeff at the project initiation. The other
requirements that has to be followed for managing this project are contact with local medical
stores (for pets also).
