Companies Chosen
The two companies chosen for the purpose of this paper are- McDonalds vs. Burger
King.
Company Web Site
McDonald’s employs hundreds of new and young employees every year. According to
the Great Place to Work, McDonald’s was listed in the Best Workplaces and Best Workplaces
for Women of 2016 (Mcdonalds.com, 2019). McDonald’s celebrates festivals and global events
that might entice the employees to work in the organization. Burger King Canada is a business
that never stands still. The desire for growth and innovation are the most enticing factors for
employees to work in the organization. However, Burger King is not listed on the list of best
companies to work (Burgerking.ca, 2019).
McDonald’s communicates openly and values diverse opinions of its employees.
However McDonald’s does not have any inviting statements for diversity on the Canadian
website. Same is the case with Burger King Canada where none of the specifications are
mentioned for diversity. They might be silent on diversity as the global website has information
regarding diversity where they invite diverse group of people belonging to different communities
(Bk.com, 2019).
McDonald’s and Burger King ensure to implement human rights standards by fostering a
safe and respectful workplace. However, it was reported that McDonald’s Brazil offered low pay
and poor working conditions to the employees (Douglas, 2015). However, no human rights
violations are seen in Burger King in the last decade.
