FDI, Foreign direct investment is the main part of the international economic system and a
major source of development. FDI allows companies to controlling ownership of a business
which is in the host country while the entity is based in another country (Bernard et al.,2013). It
allows businessmen to open their business branches in any country while keeping the parent
entity or company in another country. There are numbers of benefits of FDI like developing
countries’ economies as well as enhancement in skills and technology, contribution in
international trade integration, enhancing enterprises development, creating more competitive
business environment etc. As there are many positive effects of FDI. It also addresses some
drawbacks for host countries like challenges for the local area businesses, disobeying the
culture of the host country, multinational companies may use the tactics to avoid the tax in the
host countries (Crawford and A., 2015).
The multinational companies are always in the search of new consumers and this needs a
proper research on the topic and finding the target audience and their requirement and for this
the multinational companies move to another country or into a host country. As the
multinational companies are spreading their business across the globe so this is known a
globalization. For doing this, it needs lots of planning and analysis of every country. The
business Internationalization depends upon the corporate structure and GDP growth. For
establishing a new business first, the businessmen need to do the proper research that what
would be the outcome of it. As here the project is about impact of McDonald on the local area
restaurant business in UK so the research could be done in two ways- qualitative and
quantitative.
In the secondary research the foreign trade investment and data agreement can be analyzed.
The primary method could be done using survey method in which a questionnaire would be
prepared in order to figure out the impact of McDonald’s stores on the local area restaurants of
Redbridge. And according to the analysis of the questionnaire response

benefits can be in terms of economic development, technology improvement, employment
or in GDP growth (Fang et al.,2012). According to the survey, which has done to find out the
impact of Multinational Corporation on the local business, the main benefit which is
provided by the MNCs is in the field of technology.
