INTRODUCTION
The current business environment has been experiencing significant trends in the
functioning and operations. The organizations have been influenced at a huge level due to
the trends in the business environment. Globalization is one of the major trends which
influence the business environment at a huge level. There are various merits and demerits
of globalization in the business environment. The organizations have expanded their
business to a large number of countries for significant profit (Glatzer, 2012). MacDonald is
one of the growing multinational companies that have been carrying their operations at
wide level. Further, a study has been conducted to assess the impact of MacDonald on the
business environment of the UK.

The influence of globalization on the business environment of the host country has been
significant. The multinational companies have been expanding their business operations in
different countries in order to attain substantial profit. The expansion of business by the
multinational companies possesses a large number of implications on the host country in
both positive and negative in nature (Spence, 2011). The study on the impact of MacDonald
on the business environment of the UK would be helpful in assessing the influence of
globalization effectively.
AIMS
The aim of the project is to assess the impact of MacDonald on the business environment of
the UK.
OBJECTIVES
There are three objectives which have been developed in the research project to achieve
the aim of the project. The objectives are mentioned below:
 Assess the impact of MacDonald on the economy of the UK
 Assess the influence on the business environment of the UK due to the operations of
MacDonald
 Assess the challenges which would be incurred due to the operations of MacDonald
in the business environment of the UK

PROJECT DEFINITION
The project has been based on understanding the impact of the multinational company on
the business environment of the host country. The project focuses on the impact of business
operations of MacDonald in the business environment of the UK (Meredith and Mantel Jr,
2011).
PROBLEM STATEMENT

It is evident that the globalization has resulted in several benefits for the companies
whether they are small or large in nature. Still, there are certain drawbacks of globalization
on the business environment of the host country such that it is essential that a suitable
strategy should be applied. MacDonald has been carrying their operations in the UK which
resulted in certain implications and they would be assessed through the project.
PROJECT STRATEGY
It is the strategy which would be applied in the project in order to meet the aim and
objectives effectively. The strategies which are applied in the project have been mentioned
below:
 It is important to assess the impact of MacDonald on the business environment of
the UK such that it could be done through its implications on the local companies.
 A literature review would be conducted in the project for gaining insights regarding
the project area.
 Further, the survey would be conducted for attaining information regarding the
implications of MacDonald on the business environment of the UK.
 At last, the findings of the project would be assessed to attain a significant outcome.
PROJECT SCOPE
The project is conducted to assess the impact of multinational companies on the business
environment of the host country. MacDonald is a huge multinational company that has
been carrying its operations in different parts of the world. The business operations of
MacDonald possess a significant impact on the business environment of the UK. The project
would help in understanding the different implications of the business operations of
MacDonald. It would help in evaluating the different aspects of the business environment
effectively.
PROJECT COST AND TIME
The cost which would be required for conducting the project is negligible. In addition, the
time for conducting the project would be 15 weeks where various activities would be
conducted (Too and Weaver, 2014).

activities. The risks are related to operations, financial, and procedures. The operational
risks could occur due to inadequate data while the financial risks could occur during the
functioning of the activities. The procedural risk could occur when the procedure for
collecting data is altered.

There are certain assumptions of the project such as:

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH (LITERATURE REVIEW)
The qualitative research in the project would be conducted with the help of a literature
review. In a literature review, similar studies on the project topic are analyzed critically for
gaining information regarding the project. The findings of the literature review are further
utilized in the project to attain the outcomes.
Spence (2011) has conducted a study on the impact of globalization on income and
employment. The process of globalization has integrated the market at a worldwide level. In
addition to this, there are various factors which play a major role in the acceleration of
globalization in the business environment such as management and technology which
further assist in managing man-made barriers. The growth rate has been significant for the
organization due to the application of globalization. It has been evident from the findings of
the study that the developing countries have been attaining significant growth due to
globalization in the business. The developing countries have been transforming into
developed countries. Moreover, it could be stated that the emerging economy impact on
the global economy and the advanced economies have been rising in a rapid manner. In the
previous time, the impact of globalization on the business is considered as positive but it has
been transformed in the recent time and it possesses both positive and negative impact
(Cantwell et al., 2010). Moreover, the integration of the market has been carried at huge
level due to globalization.
A study is conducted by Hamdi (2013) which helps in understanding the impact of
globalization in the developing countries. The developing countries have been experiencing
the impact of globalization in three key areas such as education and health systems,
economic and trade practices, and cultural effects. The study helps in understanding the
benefits and detriments of globalization on education and health systems effectively.
Further, the benefits and detriments of globalization on economic and trade practices are
assessed. At last, the positives and negatives of globalization on the culture are evaluated.
Moreover, it has been evaluated from the study that the function of globalization has paved
a huge opportunity for the developing countries in carrying their business operations

effectively and strengthening their economy at a huge level. The study has been helpful in
gaining significant insights regarding the impact of globalization in developing countries
(Cuervo Cazurra, 2011). It is vital for the developing countries that they effectively apply the‐
globalization practices in the business operations for attaining desired benefits.
QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH (SURVEY)
The quantitative research in the project would be conducted with the help of a survey. In
the survey, a questionnaire would be developed which comprise of five questions that are
related to the project. There are 50 respondents who would be participating in the survey
and they are the individuals working in the business environment of the UK. It would help in
gaining insights into their perspectives regarding multinational companies. The collected
data has been presented below:

has been significant. The local companies are influenced by multinational companies to
some extent. It is also determined from the above chart that there are 15 respondents who
consider the influence of MacDonald in the business environment of the UK as good while
there are 10 respondents who consider the influence as bad. In addition to this, there are 25
respondents who consider the influence as average.

The role of globalization in the economy of the nation has been significant. There are a large
number of companies who have been carrying their business operations at a global level
which benefit the host country and the company at a significant level. The responses of the
respondents have been collected regarding the aspect and it is evaluated that there are 20
respondents who considered that the business operations of MacDonald possess a
moderate influence on the economy of the UK. In addition, there are 15 respondents who
consider the influence high on the economy while the 10 respondents consider it low.
Moreover, there are 5 respondents who consider that the influence is very high on the
economy.
