Introduction
Globalisation influences local enterprises to develop their business and provide integrated
services to the people which can improve their economic condition. Big global organisations
affect services of local organisations. In this project, the approaches required for starting a new
restaurant is proposed based on cost, time, communication and risk assessment. Primary and
secondary research on McDonalds’s operation is conducted to identify impact of its operation on
local business.
P1 Devise project aims and objectives for a chosen scenario
Project aim
Aim of the project is to identify impact of operations of McDonalds on activities of business set-
up in local community.
Project objectives
The objectives of the projects are,
1. To identify the business condition of McDonalds in the community in which new
business is developed
2. To determine the impact of McDonalds on local business
3. To recommend the approaches that are required to reduce impact of McDonalds at the
time of starting new business.
Problem statement
It has been identified that sales and economic condition of McDonalds is high enough to
influence and affect local business in the UK. There have been 1,200 restaurants of McDonalds
across the UK and further a £0.706 billion of value has been added in the business in 2018. The
company has acquired brand value of $126,044 billion across the world in 2018 with 69 million
customers. Henceforth, it is difficult for the local enterprises to avoid the impact of this company

on the people of UK before setting a new business. Most of the customers in community prefer
fast foods of McDonalds; it is also difficult for start-up business to grab attraction of customers.
Purpose of the project
The project can determine the affects of operations of McDonalds on start-up business and its
effect on local enterprises to gain attraction of customers. It is useful for the local organisations
to determine the challenges faced buy them at the time of establishing new restaurant in local
community of the UK. The approaches and steps required to start a new business can be
identified by the new organisations and it can help them to improve their business and economic
stability of the business. Project management plan determines the costs, quality, resources and
communication required for completing the project. It improves quality of information that is
collected to determine population of McDonalds in UK market that can become a barrier for
setting up new business.

Scope management
Included Scope
In this project, costs, time, communication, quality and risks of the project are identified to
collect data regarding the impact of operations of McDonalds on start-up restaurant in the UK.
Primary quantitative data and secondary data are collected for this purpose. Thematic analysis is
conducted to identify the impact of McDonalds on economic condition of the new business.
Project management plan can help the start-up business to point out the procedures and
approaches required for starting business.
Excluded Scope
Qualitative data would be collected from the local managers to identify financial effects of
operations of McDonalds on start-up business of the UK. The factors that create barrier in
creating new business and steps required to start a new business are also in the excluded scope of
the project.

Project
supervisor
Supervisor of the team allocate the resources for the activities of the project.
Supervisor creates plans for entire project by building schedule, estimating
costs and risks of the project (Martens et al., 2017). They also segment goals
for all members and measure their performance to determine significance of
the processes.
Team leaders Team leader identifies whether the data regarding McDonald’s activities and
popularity are collected effectively and the member maintain ethics at the
time of data collection. Team leader supervises the team members to note
whether all primary and secondary data are analysed successfully to point out
the influences of McDonalds on start-up business.
Team members Teammates have conducted the survey and collect data from the local people
of the UK in which the new business and McDonalds is operated. The data
has been stored successfully by maintaining proper ethics and secondary data
has been collected from the recent journals and websites to identify impact of
operations of McDonalds on the UK people.

Resources
Material Resources
Material resources required for project are stationary materials such as paper, pen and recorder to
collect data. Along with it, project needs disk drives, computer software, tracker and computer

websites, and government articles are also used to collect data regarding McDonald’s operations
and customer base and their influence of new business.
Human Resources
Human resources of the project are team members, team leader and project supervisor who have
