Jojo Moyes Me Before You is novel about love and family. In the novel, the author brings
various themes such as love and affection, the meaning of life, choice, and bravery. Life of the
main characters is seen to be emotionally difficult. However, they remain bold and show the
audience their attributes of ambition, bravery, and genuine love throughout the novel. In this
essay, the theme of power to expanding one’s introspective abilities will be analyzed to
understand its relevance in modern day life.
Throughout the novel, the quest of realizing self-esteem, choice, oneself, and selflessness
is evidenced. In terms of choice, Will Traynor has two choices, “to either please everyone and
hate himself and suffer forever” (Moyes 12), or to complete everything promptly and all people
with understand and forgive him. In this accursed bustle to life, people seem to have forgotten
about the most crucial things and Moyes portrays the means of life appreciation, life moments,
thanking the creator for breathe, feet, hands and the ability to rejoice. Prior to the accidence, Will
did not reflect on the life values, but he begins dreaming about them again after the wheelchair
experience.
Also, Me Before You changes the life of a reader; it is difficult to essentially pry yourself
away from Will and Lou love affair. Will has been an ambitious man, and this is evidenced by
his attachment to work and desire for adventure. In the story, Will is being convinced by Lou to
plan a more relaxing vacation rather than the thrill-filled adventure he is used to planning. At the
same point, Will is focusing more on work matters and not how “sexy Lou is in bed” (Moyes
60). Regardless of all hardships and difficulties in life, the two are so real and true to each other.
The audience will trust their emotions and feelings. Love between the two is a good example of a
frank affair, and this teachers the audience to give sincere love to other souls, because it is only a
soul that can embrace all the delights of the world.

Further in the novel, Jojo Moyes combines tragic moments with funny ones. As the novel
build up, the audience is able to giggle, however at its end, the audience is close to crying. In
times, “bright things occur in the most disturbing life moments” (Moyes 76), and the novel
provokes an ocean of numerous complex and controversial issues. Some of these are how to
behave if your beloved people suffer? How to support an individual whose life has transformed?
And what needs to be done to ensure moral consciousness to our beloved? Additionally, what
should the people who suffer do? In this context, the need to have fear against inflicting pain on
our beloved and relatives is brought up.
In conclusion, the book emphasizes that we only have one life, and this life is very short
to cause harm or pain on others. The author teaches the audience to stop wasting their precious
time on quarrels, war, nonsense, and cruelty. Once again, the novel reminds us that time is a
valuable resources and always insufficient to implement all the plans we have; thus people
should create time for the only important things in order to establish the right rhythm and
meaning to life.
