AI Summary
This report details a Mechanical Engineering internship completed at Saudi Aramco by a student from Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. The internship involved rotations through various departments, including control valves, relief valves, rotating equipment, and machining. The student gained hands-on experience with different types of valves (FCV, TCV, ZV, and throttle valves), dismantling, cleaning, and assembling rotating equipment such as pumps and turbines, and operating a lathe machine for fabrication. The report highlights the student's activities, progress, and learning experiences during each rotation, providing insights into the practical application of mechanical engineering principles in an industrial setting. The student focused on understanding the functionality and maintenance of critical equipment within the plant, including the importance of safety measures and the significance of each component. The report also includes appendices with figures of equipment.

First of all, I am an employee in Saudi Aramco. My internship
activities will, be carried out in RasTanoura Maintenance Shop.
During my first and second week, the main activities allocated were
in the control valve area. At this section, I was able to work on 3
main types of valves which include Flow control valve (FCV) and
Temperature control valve (TCV), ZV valves which are important in
plants. The ZV valves are used in case of fire in order to shout the
plant of, prevent flammable liquid or gas from going into the plant.
The last type of the valves is the throttle valves, which helps in the
control of steam from going into the steam turbines.
Background
During my first week, I was able to get involved in the control valve
sections. I was engaged on the 3 types of valves which include FCV,
LCV and TVC where each has its own controlling factor. For instance;
for the LCV, I was able to dismantle the valve and learnt the
following main parts of the valve;
1. Actuator.
2. Body.
3. Regulator.
4. Diaphragm.

5. Upper and lower plates.
6. Stem.
7. Cage.
8. Disk.
9. Seat.
10. Plug
In every key valve, this activity was carried out. Additionally, I was
able to work on the throttle valve and learnt how to dismantle and
assembling it. I was able to carry out the same process for the steam
turbine.
Progress
During the internship period, I plan to be carry out my internship
activities on the control valve sections. I will try to work on different
types of valves, dismantling and assembling them. At this section, I
did not face any challenges.
Plans
During the first week, I will be allocated on the control valve
sections. I would like to know the type of control valves which

Aramco is able to use in their plants. I will look to learn the inside
parts of the valves and how they work in a single mechanism.
