Executive Summary
This is a report for the mechanical engineering. It is used to reflect the working experiences in SWARS International
Pty Ltd in Sydney. It is performed at the end of the degree. The designation is a trainee engineer. I involved myself
different types of training within the company. They provided lots of opportunities regarding the tendering,
calculation, ad-hoc and many others.
My friend informed me regarding this company. He is working in the administrative office of the company. I applied
to the company with the help of email. After that they called me for the interview. After one week of the interview I
started by internship within the company. The starting date of the internship was on 8-7-2019 and completed on 8-10-
2019.
At the time of training, it provided me an opportunity to gain knowledge regarding the work culture in the engineering
field. It provided me to gain knowledge regarding the competency in the engineer Australia Stage 1. It gives an entire
working experiences based on the Australia. I became a full time engineer in this company. I did the internship for
sixty days or two months within the company.
I engaged myself in different types of assignments like arrangement of the meeting with city councils, contact with the
administration and many others. I performed major and minor civil as well as structural assignments, visiting of sites,
initial design of the latest projects, performing the tendering as well as estimation, project management and many
others. These assignments helped me a lot to increase my skills in mechanical engineering. It helps to provide the
capability to increase my skills and improvement of the ability for performing in professional way.

1 Introduction
1.1 Description of the company
SWARS International Consulting Engineers provided many services related to the project management. It is
provided in the huge range of construction projects in the country like Australia, Indonesia, Dubai and Kuwait.
They are providing these services since 2008. Various experts of the company cover the total life cycle of the
constructed assets. It has the concept of the feasibility to design process. Main services of the company involve
expenditure as well as management of the contract. It includes design, construction, planning, estimating, and
audit of expenditure as well as certification. They provided lots of professional to give support to the clients. It
helps to manage the financial risk related to the asset procurement and ownership. They received third party
certification for its Quality system.
SWARS International Consulting Engineers are providing the services since last twenty years. They have a
huge amount of experiences within the vast range of markets, building, highway, facility of development for the
maintenance plan of railways. With the help of the entire experiences, this company is able to generate the
talented teams that are usually focused on the specified requirements. As an example, this company handled the
construction of the schools and University projects in the countries like Australia, Indonesia, South Korea and
Dubai. This company has various joint ventures with the Build works Construction Pty Ltd, K.J.McCracken Pty
Ltd, Yantron Building Services, M.D.G Builder, Technik Haus Architects, MLEI Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd
(Adelaide based Company). SWARS achieves lots of reliability as well as outstanding quality in the areas of
various activities.

DETAILING ABOUT THE JOB
My designation was an intern engineer. I began my internship in SWARS International Pty Ltd. on July, 2019. My
focused was totally on the internship. I performed more than one assignment at the time of doing the internship.
Following are some of the assignments performed by me within the company:
 Administrating the contracts
 Conducting the meetings with the city council
 Visiting of construction sites
 Performing the tendering as well as estimation of the projects
 Performing the project management in the recent projects
 Elaboration of the position of yourself within the company.
2 Elaboration of the experience regarding the mechanical engineering
At the time of internship, the company allocated me various types of tasks. My duty was to perform the
coordination as well as collaboration among the design team, summary of the field notes, establishment as well as
maintenance of various records of technical data or documents, performing calculations of mathematics,
performing AUTOCAD related assignments, helping to create graphic display as well as presentation materials
and performing other duties as the leader of the assignments. I also helped in the Solar Panel Design projects,
visiting of sites, joining in the pre-tender meeting.
Week 1: Introduction
 An orientation of the organisation of the company is provided.
 Providing several safety sessions.
 Giving quality as well as environmental planning session.
 The company shared several login details regarding the projects of the company.
In the initial week of internship, I went through many previous projects of the company like projects of air
conditions, railway projects, building projects and many others. In these projects, I got an opportunity regarding the
scope of the assignments, procedure of establishment of the requirements, generation of the building plans, proposed
time delivery and compilation of the documents. After that, I was comfortable with the mechanical work for the area
of civil engineering. Team leaders, project managers and civil engineers were assigned to these projects.
Week 2:
 The company provided the necessary review of the financial reports of the company.
 Company developed confidence among the employees. They prepared the employees in such a way that they
became efficient and professional.
Week 3:-
 Company arranged day to day meeting. In this particular case, my responsibility was to provide proper
arrangement of meeting. I sent the message related to meeting to the company.
 The company was engaged various employees for the interaction and they collected the queries. They also
collected feedback.

The main strategy for getting the work experience was to habituate in the real world workplace in an Australian
Company. By working this company, I enhanced my working skills in the mechanical engineering and it will provide
me recognition at the international level.
Week 4 to Week 8:-
 The company performed the tendering as well as bidding of the projects like Solar Panel Project.
Maroubra Bay Public School implemented one solar panel project. The capacity of this project was 36.14KW.
 The company allocated budget at the time of performing the tender.
Budget of this project is attached by me. The company quoted $72133.00 for this project. If the company included
the small scale Technology Certificate, the expenditure was $39058.00. This expenditure was calculated after the
involvement of the Goods and Services Tax. After that the company performs the evaluation of the projects and they
visited the site of 138 Lansdownie roads and 288 military Road. After visiting the entire site, I came to know
regarding the necessity of the Personnel Protective Equipment. It was performed because of the safety purpose. It is
quite good for the learning experiences.
Week 9:-
 In this week, an important project came. It was the solar installation in Kogarah High School, and Maroubra
Bay Public School. In this project, the basic requirements were the structural engineering, designing and
supply and installation of solar power grid. It was the capacity of 55 kW PV. It took three weeks to finish the
project.
 There were other projects of 138 Lansdownie Road Canley Vale and 288 Military road Cremorne.
 At the time of these projects, I came to know regarding the tendering procedure of Australia. These projects
provided me ample opportunity regarding the skills as well as engineering.
3 Analysis of Mechanical Experience
While working as an engineer in this company, I came to know regarding various skills of mechanical
engineering in daily basis. After the finishing the assignments, I gained lots of technical knowledge regarding the
procedure of writing reports, management of the assignments and performing the assignment in an efficient manner. I
came to know regarding the tendering procedure of Australia for these types of projects. I came to know different
problem solving techniques related to these projects. I completed my graduation from Australian University and I
worked for an Australian Company. It gave me hands on experiences at the time of the internship. It will try to
highlight various aspect of Australia.
At the time of my internship, I came to know regarding popular technical skills as well as creativity and it was the
very important characteristics for the corporate world. In the middle of the internship programme, there was a
situation where we could complete the assignment within one or two days. It was used for tendering purpose. In this
internship, I learned how to work under pressure. In this internship, I learnt various problem solving skills. I also
learned all the interpersonal, verbal as well as communication skills. It is very important for the engineer.
There were various situations where I felt that I already went through regarding those topics. At the time of
performing Automated Ball Bearing Sorting Machine, I studied the CAD software as well as several other tools. At
the time of performing the other projects, I came to know regarding the Visual Basic Software Application. It was
totally related to my course curriculum of the mechanical engineering. I gained lots of theoretical as well as practical
experience of the mechanical engineering discipline.
Apart from the theoretical knowledge, I came to know regarding various practical knowledge in the time of my
engineering course. It would help me to gain international reputation in future. There was a huge gap between the
practical and theoretical knowledge of the mechanical engineering discipline. But I applied my theoretical knowledge

in my projects. But I should know regarding the procedure of these applications. These points I learned at the time of
my experiences. I came to know regarding the team work, managerial skills, communication and problem solving
skills. It was entirely different from my course curriculum.
4 Reflection on Engineers Australia Stage 1 Competencies
4.1 Knowledge and skill base
4.1.1 Comprehensive, theory-based understanding
During the course curriculum of mechanical engineering, I came to know some fundamental procedures as
well as various ideas for the working principles. It is necessary for every mechanical engineer to gain detailed
information regarding their core subjects. This theoretical knowledge plays an important contribution before
running the project. I came to know regarding the design, estimation, evaluation and drafting of the reports. These
were very important for successful execution of the assignments. Important part every project of mechanical
engineering is to gather various knowledge for executing the tasks. After that, they try to manage all the aspects
of those projects.
4.1.2 Conceptual understanding
I worked as a trainee engineer of the company. It was very important to have a sufficient knowledge
regarding the various software and mathematical calculations. With the help of various software analysis
methodologies, it was very easy to understand the total calculation. After that I made some correction of the data
for a small period of time. With the help of that software, I calculated the outcome and performed the analysis of
those outcomes. They executed those one. At the time of the graduation, I had a sound knowledge regarding the
several engineering software as well as other engineering related terminologies. I had an advance knowledge
regarding the other subjects and it was totally different from acts as well as laws. Conceptual knowledge was very
important at the time off execution of the project.
4.1.3 In Depth Understanding
At the time of internship, I prepared draft regarding the progress of the project. I performed the critical
thinking approach. It would help me to handle many hazards in near future. I had to understand all the
necessary documents as well as requirement of the client. It helped me to perform the project in flawless
manner. It provided detailed understanding regarding the design, laws, process and many others. These are
most important skills of the mechanical engineers.
4.1.4 Discernment of knowledge development and research directions within the engineering discipline.
At the beginning of the internship programme, my team leader provided a detailed introduction of the
company. From this, I came to know regarding the work-health as well as safety measures during the project.
The team leader gave detailed information regarding the session of the environmental plan as well as it
highlighted my duties as well as responsibilities. The company provided many session regarding the clients,
procedure of the tendering, communication procedure and many others. My team leader was a very nice
person and he provided me an efficient guidance. It took me in the comfort zone in the project. In the solar
panel project, I learned regarding various professional report for those projects. It helped me to learn
estimation as well as employee management. It would be very important for me to become an efficient
engineer in near future. This internship helped to learn regarding various software of the mechanical industry
in Australia. e-tendering was very important in Australia.
Lots of research required to be performed before the initiation of any project. These are economically,
environmentally and socially feasible in the country like Australia. It helped a lot to the engineering
professional.

4.1.5 Knowledge of engineering practice and contextual factors
At the time of internship, I used the conceptual knowledge. I got that knowledge at the time of getting
the degree. I did estimation and designing techniques. In this case, I performed a huge amount of
mathematical calculation.
I provided the data in the table format. I generated the design summary for all the sub-parts of various
components of the projects. In this particular case, I took various points from other reference books. I
implemented several guidelines which I found in the internet. I have used several concepts of object
rejection and counting machine, stepper motor control, motorized object lifting jack and many others.
4.1.6 Understanding of the scope, principles and norms
At the time of my internship, I did not have any idea regarding the working field. Australia had many
scopes in the field of engineering. Australia is considered as the developed country. They believe in the
sustainable development of the project. It is a positive point in the mechanical engineering. It provides an
opportunity to make the project more sustainable one. After completion of my internship in this
company, I became familiar with the Australian Act and Policies for the development. It was totally
related to the sustainable development. For the development of the country, the development must a
sustainable one. It is most important lesson of this internship.
4.2 Capability of applying engineering concept
4.2.1 Implementation of popular engineering methods
At the beginning of the project, there are many issues. The important challenge is to reach the need of
the client. I realised that there was modification in the design procedure for the above mentioned
situation. It was related to the risk of the client. I discussed this issue with my group and performed some
changes. It was happened when I engaged myself object rejection and counting machine, stepper motor
control, motorized object lifting jack and many others. At the time of this internship, these assignments
created huge pressure upon me. I noted the change request of the consumer as well as management. It is
very important for the professional mechanical engineer to apply popular engineering concepts to resolve
the complicated problems.
4.2.2 Appropriate application of engineering methods
At the time of working, I was very much familiar with the communication skills with various clients. I
used Auto CAD and much other estimation approach for doing the projects. Microsoft Office was one of
the important software which was used in these projects.
4.2.3 Implementation of systematic engineering methodology
In the area of mechanical engineering, there were various skills those could be related to the
curriculum as well as non-curriculum skills. It helped to gain more knowledge regarding several
engineering techniques. In this company, most of the works were designing based work. Other
assignments were daily meeting, visiting of the site and many others. Many a time, some issues raised
in which I had to communicate with my team leader. I had to follow all the rules and regulation of the
company. It helped me to apply some systematic design approach for executing a project smoothly.

4.2.4 Executing and managing different engineering projects
As an engineer, it is very important to obey all the rules and regulation of the Australian Government.
Basic information is necessary for the deeper knowledge. It helps to build a successful career. Team and
employee management is an important point in the area of engineering. If the employees are working as a
team it will be very easy for the company to achieve success in any project. In my internship time, my
team leader inspired me and pushed me to perform in every assignment. It motivated me work and learnt
more. At the time of my internship programme, I learnt regarding the managerial skills.
4.3 Personal as well as professional factors
4.3.1 Ethical steps and accountability
In every work place, there is a certain code of conduct as well as ethical principle. In the engineering
profession, there is also some ethical conduct. It can be providing the safer working environment, safer
implanting, providing sustainable development, following of some ethical practices and maintenance of
quality.
4.3.2 Efficient oral and written communication
Efficient communication in the work place is an important factor. In the engineering profession, good
communication skill is very important. For delivering the message in correct way, communication is very
important. There are many ways by which a communication needs to be performed. These are emails,
telephonic, face to face and many others. According to me, these are very efficient.
I attended day-to-day meeting where I discussed regarding the progress of the project.
4.3.3 Creative, innovative and pro-active procedures
As an engineer, it is important to become innovative, creative and pro-active. At the time of
designing, majority of the client requires the different kinds of structures as well as design. In my
opinion, in this particular case, creative thinking plays a vital role. In this particular case, I follow all the
criteria of client. Innovative ideas are very important to make a project successful.
4.3.4 Use of professionalism and management of information
While working as a trainee engineer in SWARS, they provided me an opportunity to tackle a
professional engineer. They provided me the access of the most of resources as well as some confidential
information. I kept it confidential. I prepared documents in every week. I discussed it in the meeting.
With the help of this, I learned various information those were available that should be managed very
well. It kept this one as confidential. Professional experiences helped me to become more professional.
4.3.5 Management of self and professional conduct.
Management of team is not at all easy. For that purpose, a person requires to be managed well.
Engineer must be well organised. At the time of internship, I managed and arranged all the meetings. In
these meetings, I forwarded lots of information, location, time and many others. I gave my best for the
employee management and workplace management. It was used to increase enhance the job duration. At
the time of project, I learned regarding the creativity, innovation as well as leadership skills.

4.3.6 Efficient team and team leadership.
For successful implementation of any project, it is very important for an organisation to work as a
team. Team work always lead to the success of the project. While working as a trainee, I learnt to work as
a team. I learnt that good team member would increase the performance of the project. Being an
engineer, it is very important to understand the efficiency regarding the team leadership.
5. Conclusions
I received some experiences regarding Australian Company. The company implemented some ethical standards
and professionalism during the working within the company.
I improved my communication, verbal as well as non-verbal skill. As a team member, I learnt various
management skills and performing the work under pressure. I gathered all the needs of engineers of Level 1
competency of the Australia. For working within a company, they had some innovative ideas, creation and various
learning methods. Gaining experiences is a non-stop procedure and it may enhance the skill and knowledge of an
engineer.
