Protagonist James and antagonist Peter:
Peter: Hey James is it okay if you lend me your car
James: umm, sorry I’m not really sure about that, why do you need it and it is my car.
Peter: I am just needing it to get to an urgent doctor’s appointment for my wife because she is
pregnant and is possibly about to go into labour.
James: This is my car and it is very special to me; because the interior of my car equipped with
the best quality leather and special seats. I don’t think I will be able to lend it to you
Peter: I have a big situation if you lend me your car that will be great help.
James: but Peter why can’t you just get a taxi or get the friend to lend you their car.
Peter: James it is the middle of the night and you are the only one that is responding and is
awake, I don’t really see what’s the big fuss, we are next door neighbours and good friends so
didn’t think it would be a big problem.
James: I am sorry Peter but this car is very important to me and I can’t just lend it to anyone
Peter: I am not just anyone I have been a good neighbour of yours for a good long period of
time.
James: I know that Peter but you don’t understand what this car means to me it was a gift from
my great grandfather that was passed down for generations without breaking his vows.
Peter: hey James my wife she cannot stay until tomorrow morning I need your help if you can
James: One of vows that my grandfather had placed was for whoever had the responsibility and
was given too would not allow for anyone that isn’t a part of the family to use this car because it
would give the family bad luck.
Peter: I can understand that, but do you realize emergency of this situation, I really need to use
your car to reach to the hospital
James: I cannot lend you this car as it one of the most important and morale duties of mine, not
to break my great grandfather’s vows.
Peter: Do you really believe in these superstitious things that lending your car to someone else
would bring bad luck to the family?
James: It doesn’t matter whether you believe in these things or do not believe in these things, but
the fact is that I do believe in it.

Peter: OK I understand that you cannot allow me to use your car, but you can drop me and my
wife to hospital. I guess that will not break your great grandfather’s vow.
James: I cannot leave my house at the middle of the night but I do not understand why you
cannot call a taxi or someone else. Why are you perusing on using my car or me to leave you and
your wife to the hospital?
Peter: And I cannot understand why you cannot lend me your car?
James: the time you have wasted asking for my car, within that time you could have easily
called a taxi and took your wife for Doctor’s appointment.
Peter: But you cannot lend me your car even in such kind of emergency situation.
James: It is not only about my great grandfather’s vows but it is about trust as well. You claim to
be a good neighbour and always borrow one or the other thing from me and never return it back,
many times you even damaged the things and didn’t even took the responsibility of it. Other than
this many times you even lied about a thing and borrows something from me and never returned.
This car is extremely important to me as it has been passed down for generations within my
family and none of them had broken by great grandfather’s vows. But despite of this if you want
then I can call a cab for you so that you can take your wife to the hospital for doctor’s
appointment.
James: In addition to this there is another reason because of which I cannot lend you my car
which is I have a very urgent meeting, first thing in the morning and I will be needing my car to
reach on time.
Peter: I will be returning your car on time before morning.
James: In addition to this, I do not think so that your wife is any time toon to go into labour as
she does not seem to be complete 9 months pregnant so I do not believe that you are still
speaking the truth. But if you are telling the truth being a neighbour, I will call a private taxi for
you urgently so that you can reach to the hospital and get urgent doctor’s appointment for your
wife so that you do not have to wait till morning.
