INTRODUCTION
The main impact of the social media in the 21st century is that the social media users encounter
risks such as harassment, data stealing, personal abuse, and content misuse. The majority of the cases, it is
the consumers that are to compensate, since they share information that must not be made public.
Power in and around media
Media refers to a tool of mass communication. In the 21th century scope of media will
increase and it cover internet, cinema, radio, magazines and so on. Through media people can
see true and clear message with the help of various type of broadcasting and advertisement
(Acharya and Buzan, 2019). Media convey an effective message with the help of pictures,
graphics, videos etc. image of media is ubiquitous in modern society. Since the 21st century
media has a very important role in the life of people. It assist in spreading information all over
the world. Media has a power of creating awareness related to some issue and also guide the
behavior and attitude of public. Now a day’s media become the most powerful tool of
communication which increase awareness & present the real stage of society. Media has a power
to develop lifestyle of people living in a society and show them a right direction. Media always
take side of truth and fight for truth. Media has the power to expose corrupt politicians and
hardcore criminals by sting operations. Media has the power to influence the behavior and
attitude of people and it is able to influence culture as it affect the thoughts, manners, the way of
living in society. It has a great power to tell people the truth about what is happening in the
world. Television is the most powerful form of media as with the help of it they can influence a
large number of people at a single time (Anderson and Rezaie, 2019).
Contemporary social issues with digital and social media
It help people live in society to connect or communicate with each other with the help of
various available social media tools and receive information about every corner of world.
Various networking sits are available which helps in getting the daily news updates (Albrecht,
2019). In 21th century the social media is use various activity such as for communication,
promotion of business, advertisement, product campaign, getting news updates, sharing opinions,
blogging and so on. Social and digital media will positively influence the lives of society. But it
also has so many drawbacks which also negatively influence people lives. Social and digital
media is responsible for cybercrimes, cyberbullying and also it create problems in personal

relationship. Society need to be aware of the advantage and disadvantage of social media and try
to use it more safely so that they can minimize the risk of hacking, cybercrime.
Ethical issue- The most important social issue which is related to digital media is ethical issue.
As in society there are some ethics included in social media before uploading any content on
social media. But social media allow each and every user to upload any content later on which
cause a (Allan and Hadden, 2017) big issue.
Privacy and security- Another important issue with social and digital media is related to privacy
and security. Social media is a public platform and it’s quite difficult for users to maintain their
privacy while using social media sits because at social media platform anyone can obtain the
personal information of anyone (Skilton and Hovsepian, 2017).
REFLECTION
I am studying in the university in which I am studying the mass communication and the topic
which is selected for my assignment is social media. As it helps me to gain the knowledge of the different
social media, how I can interact with the people around the social media. This gave me various skills and
experienced for my future career. But for this have some weakness as well as strength because for
conduct this report. As the social media is the important strategy which is used by organization so that
they can attract customer in order to purchase goods and services. In this way, I have to research which
type of social media is effective. This means that there are various problems occurred when I was
conducting the report is that research skills and ICT skills is important to conduct the report. The research
skill improved by me by analyzing, searching and by referencing. With the help of this I can complete my
report on time so that it can be correctly represented. The social media such as blog and podcast is the
main thing where they can directly interact with customer and communicate them in order to solve the
problems. This increase the brand awareness and productivity of organization. So, that it is analyzed by
me that there are various skills needed by me so that they can accomplish the business objectives so that it
helps in increasing the profit and sales of the organization. With the help of this I understand that without
marketing the organization cannot take the attention of customer. In this way the organization can tell
their customer about the new as well as existing product of their stores.
CONCLUSION
The social media as power to attract the users in the country which help them to post and advertise
anything which helps them to make the users interests. Social media has fundamentally revolutionized the
