providing the needed moral and emotional support to all those who are in need and who have to
get the timely support in order to lead a proper life. They have the work of providing an overall
good quality of the living standards of people who are the victims of some or the other issues like
poverty, addiction or any other such aspects (Mackelprang and Salsgiver 2016). The objective of

The profession of a medical doctor can be considered as that of a human service worker
because of many reasons, one of the major reasons that they are the ones who look after the
needs and demands of the people that are suffering from the mental and health illnesses. Their
main role lies in treating patients who are suffering from any kinds of illness. The illness range
from that of a physical illness like injuries in any body parts to some other impacts on their mind
or their mental well being. However in the modern day scenario, the roles and responsibilities of

doctors and other professions are changing at a very rapid rate. This is because now the doctors
have also turned into communicators (Hsu and Bai 2017). Doctors are becoming effective
communicators. They are trying to take up the role of counselor so that they can understand
about the background of the patients and also be able to make sure that they are taking care of
the emotions of their patients as well. In other words doctors will have to ensure that they are
taking some extra additional services by keeping a proper connection with the family members
or the care givers of their patients so that the patients are able to get a proper care even at their
houses and also from all their family members (Rutberg et al. 2017).
In the 18th century, the roles of Doctors were totally different than what it is now. This is
because of the fact that earlier the medical doctors were the ones who mainly treated the patients
in general and also made sure that they can prescribe the medicines for all kinds of illness.
However, with the advent of tine, there have been several changes (Martin 2016). This is because
of the fact that now there are different categorizations of doctors. Doctors are trying their level
best to refer their patients to the specialists (Joshi and Joshi 2018). This is because of the fact that
these will be bringing about better and also faster treatment for all the patients. In the modern
day scenario there are now further categories of doctors and there are many specialists as well
who try to gain a special kind of knowledge in the different aspects so that they are able to treat
their patients that are suffering from the different kinds of illness

The pro-activeness and the participation of doctors have also undergone several changes
with the advent of time. This is because of the fact that earlier whenever a patient came to the
hospital, he or she was looked after by either one or two of the clinicians. However now in the
21st century it is seen that the patients are looked after by a large number of doctors or even a

team of medical expert. This is because there is a greater participation rate and also a greater
involvement rate of the doctors as they want to give a faster and also a better treatment to all
their patients. Back in the 19th century or so, the medical knowledge was not easily and properly
available to the patients. This is because of the fact that there was a huge distance maintained
between the doctor and the patients during the earlier times. However now, it is seen that they
are trying to bridge this gap with the help of the different technological mediums. In the modern
21st century it is seen that doctors are able to play the role of a counseling expert and this in turn
is strengthening and also redefining the meaning of doctor-patient relationship. This is because
of the fact that in the modern day scenario the treatment procedure depends on the
communication system between the doctor and the patient (Petracci et al. 2017).
Doctors also believe that along with treatment and prescribing of medicines, if they are
able to give the moral support to their patients then the patients will be able to gain the lost self
confidence. They will be able to understand that they can easily rely upon the doctors and that
doctors will be able to help them in the future years whenever they face any issues. As time
passed by, some essential policies are also developed in this filed, they are the like safeguarding
policy,(NHS England). This policy is mainly to safeguard the welfare interest of the patients and
the young children from the fear of harm or abuse (Hsu and Bai 2017). The Equality Delivery
System (EDS) was commissioned by the national Equality and Diversity Council in 2010 and
launched in July 2011 (England.nhs.uk). This policy mainly tries to initiate equality in the field
of medical treatment and facilities in U.K. This is done so that patients coming from all the
different ethnic and social backgrounds are able to get the equal amount of facilities without

safety care facility. This organization mainly tries to work for the people who are suffering from
any kinds of diseases.
The organization mainly works upon the areas of social care, public health and other such
care services. These are the areas that have developed in the field of medical science in the
modern day scenario. This is because patients are often cured from their illness and diseases but
at the same time, they feel that they are in the utter need of getting something more that is the
emotional support or the moral support. Countries like Burundi , Congo, Ghana and others are
the less developed places and they have a poor economy. It is because of this reason that they are
not able to use technology in a proper way (Martin 2016). Medical facilities are yet well
developed in these countries. However in highly developed economies like United Kingdom, the
field of medical doctors is developing at a very faster rate. This is because of the reason that they
are using the technologically advanced tools like ultrasound machines, laser treatment, micro
surgery and others. Online bookings of the doctor’s appointment and also the online discussion
of reports can be carried on between the doctors and the patient’s irrespective of their
geographical barriers.

on around in the field of medical doctors. They are now in charge of not only treating patients for

moral support, emotional support and other such help agencies.

 Doctors must always try to maintain a certain distance between themselves and their
patients so that they are able to strike a proper balance between personal and
professional fields.
 Treatment decisions must always be taken by the human service workers with due
permission or the consent of the patients and also the family members or the
immediate care givers of the patients so that there is a proper transparency that is
being maintained within the process.
 Human Service workers must always try to maintain a proper connection with the
emergency relief groups and organizations that will be helping them. This is because
Government grants and funds are available for the overall welfare and safety of
people during times of any emergencies like that of flood, draughts and other such
aspects. This during the times of such emergencies that the doctors will have to stay
alert and also render their services so that all the patients or the victims cab be given
the timely treatment and the needed assistance.
 Training and development faculties of the human care services must be developed in
the poor economies or the less developed countries so that they are also able to reap
the timely benefits of this health care service.
