Medical Supply Administration in Riyadh Health
• The organization specializes in managing,
supplying and receiving all medicines and
medical supplies for all hospitals and
health centers of the Ministry of Health in
Riyadh
• They have 40 hospitals and 100 health
centers

The Medical Supply Department
• It is the major department
• Responsibility:
– Providing all medical needs of the center i.e.
all medicines, medical, surgical and other
equipment
– Supplies of high quality Medicine
– Preservation and economical use of
medicine
– Utilize existing capacity to attain maximum
customer satisfaction.
• Goals:
– Supply all the health centers with the
essential supplies, medicines, consumables
and devices in record time, with the
required quality and optimum value.

Activities and Assignments:
• Preparation of the basic list of all the requirements of the
center.
• Determining and specifying the center's need for
medications and supplies of all kinds, intravenous and
laboratory solutions, medical devices and spare parts.
• Direct purchase of urgent needs for medicines and
supplies.
• Preparing a guide for stocks of medicines and medical
supplies consumed.
• Store and exchange the needs of the center’s departments
for medicines, supplies, solutions and devices.

Activities and Assignments:
• Ensuring safety storage of medicines and supplies according to
the nature of items and the application of security and safety
methods in warehouses (stores).
• Ensure the practical and systemic foundations electronically when
receiving, dispensing, transferring and storing medicines, and
solutions
• Follow the stock validity dates and notes on the disbursement
process.
• Follow the procurement and purchase operations of medicines,
solutions, medical supplies and devices and ensure that these
operations are carried out according to the terms and
specifications.

My experience learning
• During the internship I gained more experience
in several subjects such as quality, finance, and
statistics.
• Quality:- Learned on the safety storage and
supply of medicines and safety warehouse
practices, stock validity dates etc.
• Finance:- procurement and purchase operations
of medicines, medical supplies and devices.
– Determination of final and discount price for items
• Statistics:- Learned receiving, dispensing,
transferring and storing medicines, and
solutions.
– Generate weekly and monthly visual charts to show the
work progress

Effect of the internship experience my professionalism and personality
• The internship period improved my
ability to work under pressure and
shaped my personality by changing
my attitude for the better. i.e. Now I
can listen more and talk less with my
customers and patients.
• The internship equipped me with basic
managerial skills such as effective
time management.
• The internship influenced my
professionalism by equipping me with
multitasking skills.
