INTRODUCTION
Medication is that process which will be including giving medicine or other kind of drug
and all other parts which is used for treatment of patients that any health care practitioners. As
every patient would be requiring differentiated type of help so that they are been treated in a
proper way. So the current report would be covering all type of medication and help which they
would be requiring in and also stating role of social health care practitioners in supporting the
use of medication in social care. All the current legislations and rules regarding this will also be
stated hear.
TASK 1
P1 Current policy and legislations governing handling of medication.
Medicines Act 1968-
This is the act which is governing the United Kingdom as whole with controlling use of
human and veterinary vaccinations. The act will also be including manufacturing and supply of
medicines and related instruments (Hansen, Fuentes and Aranda, 2018). In this act medicines are
divided into 3 categories which are prescription only medicines (POM), pharmacy medicines and
general sale list (GSL).
Health Act 2006-
This act will be making number of changes in National Health Service which would be
related to smoking free premises, place and vehicles, age for sale of tobacco etc.
Controlled Drugs Regulations 2013-
This will be governing the use and management of controlled drugs which is an essential
part of modern clinical care.
Misuse of Drugs Act 2001-
This act is in line of offences which are made by possession of unlawful controlled drug,
with intention to supply it, supplying or offering of drug and allowing premises occupation for
illegal supply or production of drug.
Care Quality Commission-

This is a non departmental public body that is under Department of Health and Social
Care of UK (Livingston and Hering, 2018). The main aim of this to ensure that all health care
centres or homes or hospitals are providing safe and secure quality of care.
Essential Standards of Quality and Safety 2010-
This constitute of about 28 regulations that too divided into 2 pieces of legislations which
are Health and Social Care 2008 and Care Quality Commission 2009.
M1 Legal classification system for medication in UK.
This is under Misuse of Drug Act 2001 in which all drugs are to be divided into 3 class
namely A, B and C and highest would be meaning maximum level of penalty of their violation.
Class A, includes heroin, cocaine, methadone etc.,; Class B, amphetamines, barbiturates, codeine
etc., and Class C, will be benzodiazepines, ketamine, anabolic etc., (What is the Drug
Classification System, 2018).
TASK 2
P2 Role and Responsibility.
Care worker-
The role of carer would be taking good care of the patient to whom they are looking and
it is their responsibility that patient is been given quality of service.
Pharmacist-
The of pharmacist is to give correct medication when any person is coming to them in
search of medicines and responsibility would be not giving any medicine without prescription of
doctor.
TASK 3
P3 Explaining about individual medication could be accessed.
Medication Administration Record sheet (MAR)-
This is a record which will be containing legal records about drugs or medicines that is
administered to a patient and then this is signed by health care professional.
Care plan-

This is that plan which would be containing constantly changing of nursing staff of a
particular patient and this need to be updated regularly.
Medical records-
This would be containing all medical record of patient including medical history, care or
type of treatment, test results, diagnoses and medication which were taken.

At the time of person when they are taking medication there are various type of physical
changes that could take place like that of gain or loss or weight, that of hair or any kind of
allergic reactions and they also find their food habits to be changed.
P4 Routes by which medication can administered.
Oral (ingestion)-
This would be telling about administration of person health through his mouth or
examining person's health orally and medication are also oral (Birnkrant and Naprawa, 2018.).
Inhalation-
This type of medication could be inhaled very quickly both locally and systemically
chance is there of unpleasant taste or irritated mouth.
Injection-
This include under parenteral route of administration done with the use of injection using
needle and syringe.
M2 Explaining ways in which an individual should be supported to use medication.
Any individual at the time when they are taking medication should be supported by their
care taker, nurses or doctor who is been involved into these procedures. This will be helping to
heal and recover from illness or suffering on faster bases. Like they could emotionally attached
to do this is considered to as best way to support them in their recovery.
P5 Identification of different forms in which medication may be presented.
Solid-

This largely include in-taking tablets or pessaries and they could be both dispersible or
soluble which could be dissolved into water.
Liquid-
This could be either in form of mixture or syrup and could be easily taken and absorbed
as well which at present are available without added colour or sugar.
Topical-
This could be defined to as creams or ointments which are to be easily applied onto skin
part for treatment purpose and comes into tubes and bottles.
P6 Explaining how equipments can assist in administration of medication.
Spacer devices-
It is a device which is used for inhalation of medication as many patients are finding it
difficult to take medicines form mouth like in case of asthma patients (Hansen, Fuentes and
Aranda, 2018).
Oral syringes-
It is also a type of medication device which could be like that of measuring instruments
used to measure correct amount of liquid medicine that are to be taken.
Nebuliser-
This also include a kind of equipment that is used to take medicine which is drug delivery
device and is directed to take medication into lungs directly.
