INTRODUCTION
Management and operations play an excellent role in all over growth of an
organisation. Basically, management is a prime task to the top-level manager of a
business or company. The manager of a company is always responsible for planning,
organising, directing and controlling its different operations for gaining effective results
in the market. Top-level management in each company is always takes some effective
steps towards more improving their managerial abilities and skills. There are well-
improved managerial skills are very important for an organisation for achieving its
different objectives in decided time period. Basically, a manager who has well-improved
managerial skills or abilities can easily run its different operations productively. The
management in each company is always responsible for removing those all factors from
its business environment which can affect its daily operations negatively. This report
mainly discusses management and operations aspects of Mega Image. There are Mega
Image is a leading supermarket chain within Romania, headquartered in Bucharest,
Romania. Report discusses effective role of leaders and managers in a company as
well.
MAIN BODY
Roles and characteristics of leaders and manager
Leadership is a function which requires to be perform at each level of management in
the Mega Image for achieving the final goal (Hemmer and Labro, 2016). Top-level
management of Mega Image uses leadership in framing the plans, objectives and
policies which can to be achieved in the future. Leadership supports in implementing
these plans for achieving the final goal of the Mega image at middle and lower level of
the management. Mega Image’s various tasks are completed under the direction of a
leader for effective and efficient achievement of final goal. Leadership also improves
communication to people from the outside of the Mega Image. Leadership always
needs good personality, maturity and experience for making the positive results within
the company.

A manager is a person in the company which properly utilizes various resources in the
workplace to achieve the final goal. Mega Image’s manager appoints the work
according to the ability and skills of employees. As work provided on the basis of
specialization will results in timely completion of a task. Mega Image’s manager has full
power to take the final decision in the workplace. Manager is responsible to control the
actual work and future plans of the Mega Image. Manager identifies various problems in
the work place, so as to accomplish the final goal smoothly achieve the time period.
Mega Image manager has highly focused on the strength and weakness of different
employees for completing its each task in productive way (Maylor and et.al., 2018).
Manager always supports employees in achieving the individual goals rather than group
goals. At the end, manager enables to Mega Image for gaining high success in the
market.
Role of a leader and the function of a manager
There are leader and manager are plays very great role in the different situational
contexts of Mega Image. Without leader and manager, Mega Image can’t achieve its
various goals in the market in its decided time period. Both gives great contribution in
the whole growth of this retail company. Currently Mega Image is one of the leading
retail brands in Romania. Reason is, Mega Image’s various leaders and managers
always put great efforts in their respective workplace to always maintain high reputation
of Mega Image in the market. There are few major organisational situational contexts
has been mentioned below to properly understand effective roles of leader and
manager in the workplace of any business or company.
Training and development
The manger is always required effective and skilled employees in its workplace.
In this situation, it takes various decisions for providing different training and
development sessions to its employees. Reason is, with the support of training and
development sessions, employees can easily improve its various skills or abilities and
area of knowledge (Boscari and et.al., 2018). That’s why manager at Mega Image plays
very effective role in the development of employees’ skills and abilities.

On the other side, leaders in the Mega Image also give great contribution in
training and development functions. Basically, a leader mostly motivates and
encourages its employees or team members to take huge advantages through various
training and development sessions. Sometimes, a leader also suggests its manager for
organising different training and development sessions in the workplace for improving
performance and productivity of its employees and team members.
Quality control
Most people in the market highly like for buying different products and services
from the Mega Image company because of its best quality of products and services.
Basically, the management of this retail company believes in providing the best quality
products and services to its various customers in the Romania. That’s why this
company has very large customer base also in its home country. There are a leader and
a manager at Mega Image plays very excellent role in maintaining the best quality of
products and services. For example; manager of Mega Image always prepares a
productive plan for controlling the quality of its different products and services. It always
gives orders also to its leaders and employees for properly employing various quality
control techniques, like; TQM (total quality control) Lean production and JIT (just in
time) etc. Basically, these techniques are very supportive in systematically producing
the quality products and services.
On the other side, leader is also responsible for properly taking orders from its
respective manager (Sharma, 2018). When its manager give order to implement quality
control techniques or methods, then the leader is responsible for systematically
implementing different techniques or methods in the production department. Leaders
are always required for informing its different employees or team members about the
new techniques or methods of quality control.
Improvement productivity of company
There are a manager and a leader play very great role in improving productivity
of company as well. The manager mainly takes important decisions to improve
productivity of Mega Image. There is a manger is only responsible person in the
company who implement necessary technology in the workplace. Currently there are
various technological machineries, gadgets and tools available in the market which can

the leader, because when this company will be implemented the new technology, then
employees are the main people who will use that technology in company’s daily
operations (Shollo and Galliers, 2016). At the end, manager and leader will be improve

There are various theories and models available in the market which leaders of
Mega Image need to follow in their daily operations, like; situational leadership, systems
leadership and contingency are some prime leadership approaches which each leader
in organisation need to employ its daily life to become a successful leader. These all

weaknesses of these approaches also has been discussed below;
Situational leadership
Situational leadership approach is very common and productive approach of
leadership, which teach to various leaders in the company about how to deal with
different organisational situations. Generally, a leader at Mega Image mostly faces
many situations in its workplace. For example; sometimes leader needs to solve various
problems of employees, sometimes it needs for taking decisions to improve
performance and efficiency of its employees. In short, leaders always need to deal with

great opportunity to leaders for working like mediator between upper management and
employees. This feature of contingency approach always supports in maintaining
productive relationship between employer and employees. That’s why contingency is
very important approach of leadership.

the various aspects of the various cultures in which they are operating, so that
