Part One:
1. Event Name and description
The selected program is: “Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF)”, which is
taking place annually in Melbourne over the four weeks. The event is started in March and run
through April. The Melbourne Town Hall served as the festival hub since the year 1990s, while
the performances are held in the venues through the city. The purpose of this event, MICF plays
a host to the hundreds of the local as well as international artists. In the year 2014, the festival is
listed over 469 shows, 6,488 performances by 2,228 artists. This festival also included debates,
art exhibitions, sketch shows, musical shows as well as plays (comedyfestival.com.au 2019).
Other popular events are included The Great Debate, comedy debate, Opening new super show
and others.
The goal is to be first successful comedy festival in Melbourne with exposing the
audiences to the comedy not only in form of the joy but also in form the art. It seeks and finds
comedic talent in the entertainment industry. It brings the audiences a best talent and creates such
an environment where the performers can generate exciting comedy together. Following are the
objectives of this event such as:
To provide an international platform for experienced comedians by providing them
opportunities for engagement as well as empowerment
To provide quality event in comedy shows by highlighting best in entertainment
To provide a good time producing comedic theatre in Melbourne

The average ticket price of the event is $27 and there are other shows and events which are
offered for $10 or less or free. The event is hosted by serversaurus. The partner organizations of
the event are principal government partner (CreativeVictoria), government partner (City of
Melbourne), Media partners (Herald Sun, nova100, triplej), Festival supporters (Newsboys
foundation, secureP, 1cover travel insurance and others) (comedyfestival.com.au 2019).

The audiences those are intended to participate in the survey are the attendees and
performers. After the end of the event, the survey is being performed to check if the event aim
and objectives are being met. Taking the feedback from the attendees and performers will help
the event organizer to identify the findings. A feedback form is provided to the audiences so that
they can fill up the form based on their satisfaction level with the event. After getting and
collecting the data, they can analyze as well as report the survey findings by measuring the
responses on percentage basis.
1.3 Recommendations to identify issues relevant to the event organizer
Following are the recommendations which are suggested to the event organizer to
overcome with the issues related to the International Comedy Event such as:
Pay attention to the planning: The plan should include content as well as promotion of
the event. A document is created available to the project team where each of the project team
will see the tasks of others. The event organizer should prepare list of the project tasks based on
the event requirements. It is required to schedule the time required to complete each of the
project tasks.
Draft the project budget based on unforeseeable situations: The event organizer should
list each of the project tasks and then reflect in the budget. It is required in reserve of
unforeseeable situations in the event planning.
