From the case Analysed, Melbourne market to be relocated from Footscray to Epping,
which reflect various challenges to the project leaders like resistance from the vendors,
decreased space at keeping site, increase in cost of project, And need for additional
management of transportation system. Moreover the challenges also occurred related to the
coordination as too many changes were involved in this city location project. There are some
of the leadership lessons that have been considered from this case study analysis which can
be taken away from Melbourne major project delivery. These leadership lessons include
Scrutinizing of project status. In order to manage a project there are some specific status to be
considered by the project manager which reflect analysis and re-examination of the project at
every stage. This may include considering stakeholders of the project, communication with
all the stakeholders, Understanding the week areas, making all the members carefully train
and ensure the readiness of the stakeholders to accept the change.
Some other lessons for leadership will also include the relevance of communication
with team and other stakeholders which may decrease the resistance from the vendor
Association. One side communication does not work always, therefore a two way
communication is found important in such a case where the resistance maybe high and
understanding other party‘s point of you is also important. Lastly, project schedule and time
management is another major lesson from this delivery of project. This reflects that it is
important to plan all the activities taken in order to execute the project along with the budget
allocated and the Individual responsible for that particular activity in the project so as to
maintain the coordination and consider most important work based on priority list to be done
on time.
