INTRODUCTION

to control crime like murder. This report is based upon case study of Melinda Loveless as per
which murder is the main crime committed.

Introduction of case
Melinda loveless was born in new New Albany on October 28, 1975 and was youngest of
all daughter. Larry was drafted into US Army during Vietnam War and has been treated as hero
on his return. Later on he got description of being sexual deviant.1 Larry worked for Southern
Railways after serving to military. Military is being allowed him to work with most continent.
Larry become a probationary officer with New Albany Police Department and was fired from his

anyone over himself. A bankruptcy case was filed. The extended family members is often
described that Loveless daughters as visiting home hungry and not getting enough food within
home. Also Loveless parents is often visiting bars in Louisville where Larry would be pretended
to become doctor or dentist and introduced Marjorie as his girlfriend. Some of his friends would
found distinguishing. Thee Marjorie tried to commit suicide and use to perform the act
throughout her daughter’s childhood. When Melinda was nine years old Marjorie gang raped due
to this she tried to commit suicide.
Larry’s abuse of his daughter and other children continued different court testimonies

admitted that it ever happened to her. Till 14yers of age all this continued. In court, Teddy
described an incident in which Larry tied all three sisters in a garage and raped them in

Investigation taken place in the court
As per the morning of January 11 two brothers from Canaan Indiana as they were driving
towards Jefferson Proving Ground to go hunting. They noticed something on the side of road and
also called police 10:55 am and were asked to return to corpse. Jefferson county sheriff and
detective has arrived through begin investigation taking forensic evidence at scented. It is
initially suspected as drug deal gone wrong and does not believe crime work of locals. Steven
Sharer is noticing his daughter missing early on January 112. After calling neighbors and friends
all mornings. Also he called ex-wife Shanda mother at 1:45 pm and met file missing person
report with sheriff. At 8:20 pm as hysterical Toni Lawrence went to the Jefferson County
Sheriff's office with her parents. She gave a rambling statement, identifying the victim as
"Shanda", naming the three other girls involved as best she could, and describing the main events

the victim to Shanda Sharer's missing person's report. In this case prosecution immediately

tried as adults. In order to avoid death penalty plea bearing. Tackett and Loveless were sentenced
to sixty years in Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis. Maximum time reduced for good
behaviour released in 2020. Then Lawrence was sentenced twenty years of imprisonment and
time reduced for good behaviour. She was released in 2000. Hope was also sentence with sixty
years of imprisonment and ten years of medium supervision probation. Rippey was released in
the year 2006.

sexual that was done over daughter when they were young. So it can be observed that crime like
murder and sexual assault is heinous in nature.3
