Subject: Employees Are Requested to Use Public Transit to Get to Work
Excessive use of personal vehicles causes pollution in the environment. The Ministry of
Environment has come up with the initiative of Clean Air that is aimed at solving the issue. We
are therefore bound to support it in making our environment healthy and clean (Lachapelle,
2009). Thus, with effect to the aforementioned, employees should use public transit to and from
work. In that case, those who will use transit in getting to work for six months continuously will
get some incentives. First, they will be awarded full day off without any penalties. This will only
occur if they proof to have been using public transport. Second, the company will offer a $50 per
month transit pass which will not be limited in the employees’ personal use during their own
time. However, any employee who purchases a parking pass will be denied the subsidies. On top
of the incentives, any employee who uses the transit will not be bound to supervisor’s penalties
in case coordination with transit schedules. Besides that, our company will be safe from public
admonishment if we comply with the Ministry of Environment. Most importantly, the company
will have a chance to apply for grants.
Other benefits of public transit are as follows:
 Public transit is readily available.
 It saves a lot of money.
 Minimizes congestion on roads.
 Facilitates productivity and opportunity.

Besides private transportation has got disadvantages like:

 One has to deal with other drivers on their own.
 An individual has to sit through traffic jams with their feet on pedals.
 It is costly.
 Fossil fuels are burnt at a higher rate.
 An individual is forced to be in control of their own transportation.
Using of public transit will also benefit our company in the following ways:
 Supporting the initiative will show that we are environment friendly.
 We will not face criticism from the media.
 Our employees’ automobile trips to work will be reduced.
 We will have a chance to apply for grants.
 We will not face public relations’ storm.
 We will avoid public admonishments.

As illustrated above, it is clear that public transit will be of a higher advantage (Litman, 2015).
We will therefore have no excuse for not supporting the Ministry of Environment in its Clean Air
Initiative. Every employer is requested to think about the benefits hence act accordingly. We are
hoping for the best from the initiative. We are confident that it will take our company to higher
limits and make it more sustainable. I will be glad to discuss and listen to what you have to say
