INTRODUCTION
Personal development refers to the practices which include different activity is which can
help to improve potential, talent, employability along with wealth. This is the one that can allow
an individual to make some improvement in the skills and knowledge that can be helpful to
perform any job within mental health. It is necessary to learn a different skill that can be
effective and can help to improve and utilize them in delivering mental health care services to
their client. It is essential to improve the health care service that can allow delivering of quality
care services within the mental health premises (Sekarwinahyu et. al., (2019)). As a nursing staff,
it is essential to take care of the patient with respect and dignity that can enable patients to live
their life effectively. In this report, there it a discussion about the importance of reflection which
can be helpful to provide high benefits to nursing staff and their personal and professional
development. There is a discussion about the Gibbs reflective model that can help to reflect the
event more effectively and allow to improve better care services and personal development. In
this, there is need to take care of the NMC code which should include confidentiality of patients
and should assure about providing safety and respect while delivering mental healthcare services
(Austin et. al., (2020)).
MAIN BODY
In this reflection, I have used the Gibbs model where I have to use a different name of
Gibb’s reflective model refers to the framework which can allow sharing the experience of any
individual. In this, it also help in expressing individual about their experience that can enable
them to analyze their own actions in some specific situation (Wessels, (2018)). This can also
help to analyze their action and get some learning to improve practices. It can help an individual
to learn and improve learning that can be helpful to use those and knowledge in future practices.
Description
I was working as nursing staff in mental health care services in which I need to take care
of the patient with different psychotic disorders. I need to perform my role in a more effective
way where I have decided to take charge of some specific kind of patient who have depression
and anxiety (McKay et. al., (2018)). During my services, I needed to attend a patient named Mr
k. who were having depression and feel withdrawn from society. Here, I have taken
confidentiality about patient health which lead to creating high impact on the delivery of a better

and more effective better response to provide better response towards patient mental healthcare
service. Due to heartbreak, Mr K. has recently get divorced from his wife whom my client love
too much. Due to not working in the relationship, lead to creating the reason of divorce where
patient Mr k. get depressed (Ahmed, (2020)). I needed to attend Mr k. who has some psychotic
disorder and get violent sometimes which lead to creating substance abuse towards any
individual that is nearby. While providing some medication and during care, I told that Mr k. is
not feeling well and may get irritated with me. In this, I need to get some safety and assure the
Mr k. should not get violent on me and I need to get safety if such a situation occurs. After some
time, the patient get violent and try to hit me with the nearby chair. In this, I get safe but such
type of behavior affected me too much and I needed to get safety while providing care services
to the patient especially such type of patients who get violent (Gibbs et. al., (2019)). I was also
needed to ensure that such type of violent behavior can hurt me and I need to get some
precautions while delivering mental health care services and medication to such type of patients.
Feeling
While providing mental health care service, I felt that I should not have taken such type
of care service delivery where I have the risk to get hurt. I have also felt that due to violence, I
could have get hurt in serious where I should have get an injury and should have taken in
healthcare services (Khan et. al., (2020)). Before the situation, I felt that I can handle such a
patient more effectively and politely that can enable me to follow the NMC code where I should
respect Mr k. rights and dignity and should not have misbehaved with him and provided respect
while delivering mental health care services. After the event, I have felt that I should not have
attended such type of patient who may get violent on me due to his mental disorder. Here, I have
the feeling that other people who were present there should have helped me and take charge
through holding the patient. This should have get well and should have taken control over the Mr
k (Markkanen et. al., (2020)). During the situation, I was thinking that Mr K should not get
irritated and violent on me that could be allowed me to perform my health care service role and
deliver proper care services and medication to Mr K without any consequences. Now I think that
such type of situation is normal for a patient with depression and having violent activity due to
irritation (Hou et. al., (2020)). I have also felt that such type of behavior is normal for such type
of patient like Mr K where I should take precautions and should get help from other health care

professionals that can help to handle such type of situation and provide safety against any type of
violent activity.
Evaluation
I have evaluated that there was something good and something bad about the experience.
Here, I have evaluated that during delivery in mental healthcare services, I have observed that
due to asking large number of question, it can create irritation within Mr K where Mr K get
angry and in response, he get violent and tried to hit with chair (Mukhtar, (2020)). In this, I have
also evaluated that Mr k get violent which was bad for my experience and should have taken
control more effectively. Here, I have evaluated that I have followed the NMC code of ethics
where I should not harm patients and perform well by respecting patients' rights to deliver health
care services and get respect patient and maintain dignity for receiving mental health care
services. Getting violent of Mr K was not get so well and should have made it a more positive
way. Through taking care of such type of violent behavior, I should have use some strategy that
could have help me to take care of Mr K and can enable me to perform my job role by providing
care services and following the NMC code of standards (Alonso et. al., (2018)). I have also
evaluated that other people should have also contributed to this situation where they should have
taken control of Mr K and provided safety from getting violent. There was also needed to
provide some respect to me by not trying to hit by chair and ask to leave to stay free.
Analysis
I have analysed that I need to take care of patient confidentiality and should take care
about the patient's better health. In this, I need to provide Mr K. with some better and more
effective mental health care services that can also enable to provide a better response towards
proper mental health care services (Brar-Josan et. al., (2019)). I have also analyzed that taking
care of patient health was go on right. I have properly taken care of Mr K where I have
performed well and utilized my communication skills and problem-solving skill. This enables
may to perform well and allow me to get safe and deliver proper mental health care services and
proper medication at the correct time that can help to improve Mr K health better (Adeani et. al.,
(2020)). I have also analyzed that Mr K. get irritated due to taking care of him in more effective
way. Due to proper treatment and asking many questions get wrong and get aggressive towards
me and try to hit me using the chair. I should also increase my proper health care services and
communication skill that can enable me to provide better interaction with Mr K and allow me to

deliver better and more effective mental health care services for improved health. I have also
analyze that Mr K. was not able to take control on his aggression and due to aggressive behavior
he tried to hit chair on me (Stephen Ekpenyong et. al., (2021)).
Conclusion
I have concluded that I have learned that I should improve my communication skill where
I should taken control of patient irritation and providing better mental health care services. I
should also learn about the problem-solving skill which can help me to provide better solutions
to different conditions and allow me to perform very well during the delivery of mental health
care services (Ridley & Hopes, (2022)). This situation could have been positive where everyone
has been involved and ensured about the patient and mine safety. It can enable me to perform
very well and provide better opportunity to deliver my mental health care services for Mr K. for
his improved health. I have also concluded that I should enhance my communication skill and
problem-solving skills which can allow me to perform well and use leadership to handle the
situation more effectively and in more better way. I could have to use the leadership skill that can
enable me to handle the situation in more appropriate way whereas communication skills can
also help me to make Mr K. calm and manage the violent activity more appropriately (Moradi et.
al., (2020)).
Action plan
Such type of situation occurs in the future where I will use my communication skill and
problem-solving skill which can be effective and can help to handle the situation more
effectively. I need to get proper training and learn about communication skill, leadership skills
and problem-solving skills which can allow me to perform very well to handle such type of
situation in more easy way. Learning different skills can allow me to perform well and act
differently which can allow me to handle such type of situations more appropriately without
getting any type of issues (Hickey et. al., (2021)).
CONCLUSION
From about discussion, it can be concluded that a reflection can be highly effective and
can help a to improve the personal development and enable to deliver better than effective
improvement towards learning different skills. It can also help to improve the practices which
has been occur in the past and allow to improve to better deal with the future situation. In this,

there is discussion about the personal development plan which can follow NMC codes of a
confidentially and privacy along with providing proper safety and respecting the dignity of the
patient. There is also a discussion about Gibbs reflective model that can help to reflect on the
situation which occurred during the delivery of mental health care services to the patient for
better health improvement.
