MENTAL HEALTH ASSESSMENT 2
QUESTION 1 A
Following the information about Chung in the case study, it is clear that he has been having
suicidal thoughts for the last one week. Therefore, this is the most critical risk area. An indicator
of sighs which makes a person commit suicide includes being sad and anxious which continue
over time without getting well and also is regular separation from friends and family members.
Also, Chung feels worthless and helpless as well as bad about himself and his life. He thinks
mostly about his failures like not having enough time with his wife and daughter and on top
failing to organize his wedding the way he wanted. His suicidal thoughts can be triggered by
long working hours which makes it impossible for him to have enough time to do what better
wishes like visiting his parent. His attention is lost entirely that why he finds it difficult to
concentrate (Taylor et al, 2018). The current research shows that a large percentage of people
committing suicide are men because they find it difficult to share their problem with others who
can probably help them.
QUESTION 1 B
The most effective protocol that nurses can use to get a person out of suicidal thoughts is
dialectical behavioral therapy (Daniel, & Goldston, 2009). Whereby the client is taught skills
vital to assist them to endure and control their feelings. This is very helpful mostly when nurses
are dealing with clients experiencing difficulties in feeding, concentrating, being mood less as
well as managing their feeling. This can be achieved through nurses visiting clients regularly for
at least a couple of hours per day and spend time with the person so that you can motivate,
encourage and show love to the client.

QUESTION 2 A
It is depicted that for about two months before Chung has been having a feeling of anxiety which
one of the mental disorder cases. The brain of a human being requires oxygen to function well,
which is supplied in his body insufficiently because of little breathlessness he is experiencing
and this is a sign of anxiety disorder. Other symptoms of anxiety include difficulties in
concentrating, feeling fatigue and sleeplessness. Chung mental is completely retarded since he
can only think of suicide and that he is very useless. Furthermore, he confuses even the dose to
be given to the patient boy in the hospital.
QUESTION 2 B
The key interventions involve nurses working towards long-term health and healing that is after
an understanding of the disorder through cognitive-behavioral method (Tutsch et al, 2018).M
only one can work with him to get chance to motivate him, and he will also feel loved due to the
provision of help. For the family members treating him with respect and convince him to seek
help for a mental health problem and follow up with him to know how he is doing with therapy
can be of significant impact (Cabassa et al, 2018). This can help Chung to improve quality of life
and become well all-round.
QUESTION 3
The ethics are:
Nurses value excellence nursing care for all people. This is to ensure that every individual
despite the social states is given treatment and care of high quality. The nurse/midwifery should
provide care to all people depending on their need without discrimination (Silva et al, 2018).

Nurses value esteem and compassion for self and others. The ethics ensure that the nursing
profession identifies the general human rights of persons and the ethical responsibility to
safeguard the essential dignity and equivalent value of everyone. The nurses should acknowledge
and admit the critical affiliation between health and human right (Åstedt‐Kurki et al, 2018).
