Topic: Mental health
Disability refers to a condition where an individual is not able to perform a task in the normal
way due to a health challenge. It can be physical or mental issue. An example of disability is the
blind or deaf situation. These group of people have challenges in accessing many places. One
can be either deaf or deaf-blinded. When accessing places such as airports these group of people
experience a big problem. In cases where there is no facilitation of access, these people can cause
accidents. They cannot hear or see objects that come on their way according Slade, Oades &
Jarden, (2017). The possibility of accidents makes it evident that these people need assistance in
accessing the airports. Improving access to this group of people will save time taken while the
blind is trying to access to the airports. Besides that, there are cases where the disabled can be
knocked by a vehicle or an object. All these problems can be improved by improving the
accessibility. Therefore, these are the reasons for improving access.
Mental health refers psychological social and emotional well-being according to Agic, (2016).
Mental includes how an individual feel, acts and think. For instance, the way an individual relate
with his or her fellows, make decisions and handle stress depend on the mental health of the
person. In the health sector, Davis, (2016) said that mental health covers everyone from the
childhood stage up to the adolescent stage. Every time an individual experience a challenge in
his or her mental health several things changes. For example, the behavior, thinking capability
and the general mood.
On the other hand in the current world many people experience mental challenges across the
world. However, there exist several causes of the challenge. Some of the common causes include
history of the family on a specific mental challenge, an experience in life for instance an accident
or abuse according to Oliver, (2017). Apart from the above causes another common issue include

biological issue for example the genes of the individual. From time to time, people with mental
problems have faced many challenges whether at home or their work places. Some of the
common signs of mental health challenge include feeling hopeless, inability to carry out daily
chores sleeping or eating problems according to Stiker, (2019). These people need help from
time to time not only at hoe but also when they are accessing public places
Deaf, Deaf-blind and hard of hearing
The deaf-blind are the group of people who have a problem in both their ears and eyes. These
people face a lot of challenges in carrying out their daily activities. Pilgrim, (2019) illustrated the
most common challenges is walking and accessing different places. For example, an airport in
this case. Ear problem means that they cannot here hooting of vehicles or anything that is coming
to harm them in the airport. The blindness means that they cannot see and they need an
assistance to access a busy point such as airport.
Blind
The blind people forms one of the any groups of disable. These people need assistance.
However, in most countries in the world, the government have recognized the white rod that is
used to assist the blind individuals. In a way to assist these people there is need to find the best
way to approach these people. There are cases where some individuals do not agree to be
assisted. When assisting a blind individual, one should be very specific while providing the help
according to Zeanah, (2018). It is not good to tell a blind man that there is something down there
while you point because he cannot see. The second issue is that there are cases where the person
is partially blind and he may be at a position to note some few things. There are also countries
which have come up with trained dogs to assist the blind. They act as guides while the person is

accessing sensitive places such as the airport. However, these dogs should have a badge to
ensure that no one distract them while they are assisting the blind people. Another important
thing is that when these people are being assisted by human, the person should not shout but
explain every bit of noise that comes within the airport.
Case study of deaf blind
I am from VA, access airports, this is the place where I have encountered a blind individual
trying to cross the roads. One of the main challenge that the person encountered was to get to the
zebra crossing lane. It took the person long to get to the point. However, one of the challenging
scenario was that the individual was about to get knocked by the vehicles. Luckily, a Samaritan
came to get hold of the individual and assist him in crossing the road.
Case study of disabled situation
From where I come from there is a 46 year old woman who is blind and deaf. However this
woman was not born with these disability. The challenges began after the woman got an
accident. From morning to evening the woman must depend on the family embers to assist her in
everything. There are some points that the woman always develop suicidal thoughts. It becomes
a challenge for the family members to convince her that everything is alright.
Three persons from homes state
There are many people I would want to know the need of improving accessibility in airports.
However my specific people include my senators; Mark Warner and Tim Kaine. Besides that, on
the House of Representatives I would like to recognize Donald B. Beyer.
Support related to disability

There are several areas where the people with disability need support. The first area is the
provision of wheelchairs to cripples. These wheelchairs will facilitate entry to the airports thus
reducing the possibility of the accidents. The legislators can make it a law for the disable to be
provided with wheelchairs. The second aspect is the employment. The disabled need to get
employed to the airport areas so that they understand what takes place. Government can also
come up with training facilities for the disable. The training should inform the disable ways of
accessing airports.
Conclusion
From the above illustration, it is evident that the disabled are at a risk of getting an accident
when there is no assistance, especially the deaf-blind group. However, those who travel
themselves also consume a lot of time to get to the destination. The challenges illustrate the need
to improve access not only in airports but all other public places.
