INTRODUCTION
Health is an important factor which is required to be focused by every individual for
spending their lives in comfortable manner. It is necessary for medical professionals to build
more effective practices to carrying out treatment procedure properly. It includes an essential
criteria of doctors or nurses to remain careful while diagnosing any patient and provide
medication carefully by studying their medical condition thoroughly (Cohen and Cohen, 2013).
In this case, mental illness is really critical issues in this sector that impacts negatively on life of
an individual. This assignment will attempt to understand perspective of clients and carer which
impact upon mental health. The principles of recovery and therapeutic optimism will be
mentioned. Finally, records of care home which can provide ideal services to mental health
patients will be provided.
TASK
Impact of mental illness from a client perspective including family and carers perspectives
Mental illness is kind of critical health problem because it is all about psychological
changes or disorders in mind of patient which may be positive or negative in different situations.
It includes several symptoms like changes in mood, erratic thinking, chronic anxiety,
exaggerated sense of self-worth and impulsive actions (Richards and Bergin, 2014). Thus, many
of such individuals remain violent every time and some of them are silent but may create violent
in certain conditions. In such cases, people may harm themselves due to which they have to kept
in mental asylums in secure circumstances by monitoring them on regular basis. Hence, to deal
with such people, it is necessary to make some effective and applicable practices while providing
diagnosis in proper manner.
According to care provider's perspective, patients with mental illness create several issues
while conducting certain diagnosis like psychotherapy, behaviour- therapy, cognitive- therapy,
brain stimulating and Electroconvulsive therapy. Thus, mental individuals may harm ward boys,
nurses or doctors and it is quite difficult to conduct diagnosing process due to non- cooperation
as well as violent behaviour of patient (Townsend and Morgan, 2017).
As per view points of family members, they observe violent behaviour of patient and not
able to understand anything. It is very difficult to deal with a close having mental issues because
in this condition, a person is not able to determine family members. Thus, mentally ill person

may harm other people as well as injure themselves while getting tempered. There is a direct
impact on the understanding on the person suffering from mental illness which makes
communication with other comparatively difficult.
Principles of recovery and therapeutic optimism
The mental health issue is very critical part of medical filed in which it takes lot of time
to get recovery of an individual to stable position. In this case, it is necessary for specialists to
thoroughly examine the actual mental condition of a person and then implementing an accurate
recovery or therapeutic process for reducing their problem. There are various kinds of principles
of recovery and therapeutic optimism beneficial for client along with their families. Thus, some
of these effective as well as efficient principles are explained further-
Uniqueness of the individual: This can be described as to thoroughly observe and
analyse actual unique features or response of body of an individual to determine most suitable
treatment for them (Grob, 2014). It is essential to select better diagnosis for a person according to
response of their immune system because body responding plays an important role for gaining
cure of any health problem which is favourable for clients and their family.
Real choices: The real choices are helpful build strengths of medical professionals that
provide support to maintain balance between role of care and help for patients. Thus, it will
become supportive to gain positive results and opportunities to attain duration form mental
issues. Client and their family members can gain benefits by taking cure from particular mental
problem in minimum period of time (Halpern, 2014).
Attitudes and rights: This can be explained as to examine and fulfil attitude or rights of
patient by providing actual information about mental status of patient to their family. It also
includes to convey details about treatment procedures, its complications and correct estimated
outcomes of diagnosis to family member of a person. Thus, they will get aware about exact
complexities of case which help them to make right and suitable decision to take health services
by more efficient psychiatrist.
Dignity and respect: The factor of dignity & respect indicates medical professionals to
behave respectful and obey feeling, values of belief of people while interacting with people.
