Mental health is said to the ways an individual think, act along with feel while facing
situations or events in life. Mental health impacts the aspects in which a person handle stress, in
context to one another as well as making decisions (Wutich, Brewis and Tsai, 2020). It affects
around 19% of adult people, 13% of children as well as 46% of teenager each year. There are
two kinds of mental health situation that are anxiety disorders and mood disorders. The report is
prepared on the topic “Why mental health is so important”. For the purpose of collecting
information for the topic, various range of data collection methods and approaches are used as
well as evaluated.

As per Scott, Valley and Simecka (2017), Mental health is considered as integral for
living a healthy together with balanced life. It is said to physical wellness of the brand which
directs energy, thinking, emotion, behaviours, etc to make thinks easy for coping trivial demands
of life. In other words, mental health can be termed to state of well-being wherein a person
realises their own potentials for dealing with normal stresses and pressures of life, to work
fruitfully together with productively along with making contribution towards community. It is
successful execution of mental function that leads to productive practices, providing competence
for adapting change or coping with adversity as well as fulfilling relationships with people.
Mental health issues arises because of depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction to something,
loneliness, relationship problems, various mood disorders, learning disabilities, stress and other
mental illnesses.
According to Browne (2020), mental health matters most. It is important for an individual
to take care of their mental health as it helps in resilience as well as recovery from situations
which occurs. In a nation, one among five people experiences issues related to mental health at
all phases of life. It includes overall well-being addition to affects lives in various manner. The
main reasons for importance of mental health are as follows:
Mental health impacts physical health: Mental health is important to keep physical
health of an individual. Within a person, mental health impacts adversely on the ways they
handle their living and make decisions. Body and brain are connected to each other. At a time,

when mental ailments creates depression or stress then it lowers immune system that causes
frequent sickness, unable to cope etc. Moreover, stress addition to anxiety have high chances to
toll physical health of person causing huge worried that results in releasing stress hormone which
increases speed of heart rate, breathing, increasing blood sugar and many more. When stress or
pressure infiltrates body of a person then they initiates to shut down leading further falling
(Furnham and Swami, 2018). Due to mental issues, various people turn towards alcohol along
with drugs as coping elements that affects their overall health together with stability. Lack of
mental health makes cycles of destructive behaviours that impacts physical well-being as well as
continuity of snowball. In this context, mental health is so important to manage issues with
physical health and taking good care of self to reduce chances of destructive patterns.
Ends stigma addition to shame for leading better livings: It is mental health that ends
stigma as well as shame among people to live a better living. At a time, when a person lacks
mental health then they are more prone for feeling ashamed of self as they perceive that they are
not normal or more broken from inside that affects ability to cope with low thinking about self.
Moreover, stigma begets shame that further begets destructive behaviour which causes
deterioration of self. Mental health perform important role in ending stigma and generating
awareness about breaking shame that is surrounding with conditions that encourages people to
talk more about mental health. It empowers people and the world to listen own triggers as well as
warning signals in order to not become spiral and show more compassion towards others that are
experiencing it (Stirling, Higgins and Petrakis, 2018). Furthermore, mental health is so
significant that it helps in focusing towards the globe so to make it kinder together with wider
lovely location wherein people could be able to ascertain kind of issues required to be solved
through acknowledging self and sharing stories to make things happen which tales away stigma
and shame for better type of living.
Taking control and managing stress: Stress is seen as a feeling of physical and
emotional tension. It is fact of all life. It is delineated as any change which a person have to
adapt. It generally comprises critical life events as well as positive ones. In this aspect, mental
health is important for helping or guiding a person to properly cope with stress that could ease
their bodies addition to minds. At same time, mental health assist in recognising source that
causes stress so that stress is properly managed. It influences understanding about origination of

health is so significant as it makes life overwhelming (World Health Organization, 2016). With
positive mental health, an individual either student or adult becomes susceptible for not having
awareness about their full worth as well as struggling with situations which are beyond their
control. In contrary, when mental health is ignored then people ignore themselves. It is important
to value mental health and wellness as other things are values as it results in having higher
standards along with accepting state of minds so that all the other things are performed
effectively.
In accordance to National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (2017),
Mental health is important as it assist in recognising early warning signals and living all phases
of life enjoyably. Mental health fosters relationships, allows people to adapt towards changes
along with cope with adversity.
CONCLUSION
From the discussion, it is concluded that mental health comprises psychological, social
addition to emotional well being. It is important at each phases of life starting from childhood to
adolescence to adulthood. It impacts adversely on thinking, feeling and accordingly acting which
determine the mechanisms for handling stress and making relatable choices. Mental health is so
important as it impacts physical health of a person, ends stigma as well as shame to lead better
livings, influences everything, assist in taking control and managing stress. It involves wider
