1REFLECTION ON MENTORSHIP
Personal reflection
The thing that motivates me the most towards the job role of a mentor is the opportunities
that I can create for others to grow and develop as individuals. Moreover, I believe that as a job
this is one of the most respectable and socially productive work that any person can undertake.
Supervision means that a person has to effectively interact with the people whom they coach or
mentor. This creates better and more effective ways in which a person can be developed. My
personal philosophy is in line with the vision and missions of EMCC. I believe in studying an
individual effectively and developing subsequent plans to develop the specific person as an
individual. The growth of the individual can only be achieved in the direction that can ensure
his/her maximum output. True development depends on optimizing ones potential as well as
learning new skills and overcoming critical weaknesses. The model of mentoring I use is team
mentoring. I manage small teams where I can cater to the needs of each individual personally as
well as catering to them as a group. This helps me to develop an individual as well as help him
find his position among his peer group. Previously, my practice used to be a bit slower as it took
time for me to understand the value and qualities of an individual person. This skill got evolved
and I developed experience that enabled me to quickly understand the mentoring needs of the
persons that came under my guidance. I believe in ethical behavior and do not tolerate biasness,
negative training or any other forms of breaches of the EMCC codes of ethics.
