Hybrid cloud architecture is the most implemented technology of modern time for
different IT related solutions in different data management systems (Wan, Zhang, Zhao, Yang, &
Lloret, 2014). The vendors used the term “hybrid” because the architecture is a perfect blend of
public and private cloud architecture and a great solution for different IT related problems in one
form. When single or multiple public cloud structures are connected to a private cloud structure
of a data center with a traditional infrastructure then the overall structure is termed as hybrid
cloud architecture (Shifrin, Atar & Cidon, 2013). This is only possible only if both the structures
have some kind of evenness between them. The greatest advantage of implementing hybrid cloud
architecture is it enables sharing of data and workload between the public and private cloud
based on demand, supply and cost of the service. In this way, the architecture provides greater
flexibility to the overall operation (Almorsy, Grundy & Müller, 2016). In other terms when if a
company with private cloud structure wants to incorporate with the public cloud structure of any
external trader then hybrid cloud architecture is the best chance for them.
MetaSoft Ltd, a software development company based in Australia and New Zealand is
looking for a perfect hybrid cloud architecture for their company. This is because they are
closing down their oldest data centre in Melbourne and trying to collaborate the workload of this
centre with the most updated one in Sydney centre. They are planning to increase the capacity of
the centre by implementing a suitable hybrid cloud architecture to increase availability and
flexibility in their services in data supply to their existing and new customers. Here in this report,

a thorough study on suitable hybrid cloud designs and their benefits and risk assessments are
studied and the best solution for the company is suggested.
Different Hybrid Cloud Architecture
Hybrid cloud architecture is a good solution data management companies can think about
as the solution for the company. Implementing a new structure from the beginning is quite easier
than transition to a new one. Here some popular hybrid cloud architectures are given below.
AWS Lambda: this is a highly popular hybrid cloud computing architecture as it provides some
huge benefits. Using this architecture, one can run a program without the help of any external
server. This architecture runs your program and expands it in case it is necessary for a few
permission per day to thousands every second. A vender has to pay only for the time he requires
for computing. Otherwise, he does not have to pay while his code is running. The best feature of
AW Lambda is, a vender can use program of literally anything or even of backend servicing in
this cloud without any administration (Breiter & Naik, 2013). The program of any vendor will
run in highly available computer infrastructure. This hybrid cloud architecture s highly beneficial
for data Management Company like MetaSoft. The AWS Lambda is the best one to handle
multiple venders and with limited hardware infrastructure. Starting from cost of implementation,
the benefits of this architecture are numerous. The data management company need to separate
the requests based on time division only to get the best results. In addition to this, changing over
from an existing architecture to AWS Lambda is quite an easy task. No need to worry about huge
hardware implementation or a thorough changeover. The AWS Lambda architecture can easily
be implemented with any existing hardware set up. The data company needs to implemented
time slot division based request and implementation system for AWS Lambda.

However, the risk factor associated with AWS Lambda is quite alarming. The
responsibility of the private server is solely of the data management company. The vender is no
way associated with this. The responsibilities of the company to design manage and maintain the
private server. This means they also have to take good care of the codes of the vendor. The
vendor cannot be blamed for any kind of error in the system. For those who are changing over
from an existing architecture to the AWS Lambda architecture they need to be aware of this risk
factor. MetaSoft need highly experienced expert IT professionals to design the system for them
to avoid any kind of error (Fazio, Celesti, Villari & Puliafito, 2014). In addition the company
also needs experienced people to handle the system and deal with the vendors and clients. This is
important for only such people are able to understand a complicated system like this.
Azura functions: Unlike the AWS Lambda, this system does not use time slot based code
implementation. This is a system where codes are recalled based on events or occurrences. Only
when a vendor program is recalled externally, the program will run in the system without the
intervention of main server. The vendor programs will be uploaded in the private server of the
hosting data management company and will be recalled only when a request comes to the public
server to run the code. The code can be of anything related to the vendor or the client. The host
company will not interfere with the choice of coding. The vendor company will also be charged
for the code simulation only. The vendor or the client company does not have to pay anything for
the external events for which the code will be recalled. This work can be done from few times a
day to thousand requests per second. The client does not have to pay anything. The best feature
of Azura Functions is this. The client pays only for the coding and do not have to be concerned
about the events (Flores & Srirama, 2013). The responsibility of the host data management

and upload it in the public server without any intervention.
However, the duties of the host data Management Company is the highest risk factor
associated with this architecture (Grozev & Buyya, 2014). The responsibility of the host
company is to handle all the requests and recall the associated programs. This requires a he
expertise; otherwise the overall system can go wrong. In case of changing over from existing
cloud architecture this can be quite complicated as the host company needs to train their
employees to be accustomed with the new system. However, things can go pretty wrong in case
of wrong call. The vendor can lose a fortune and the host might have to pay back. This is the
high risk factor associated with this hybrid cloud architecture.
The challenges of Hybrid Cloud
Besides these super beneficial sides of hybrid cloud architecture, there are, some
challenges related to the technical, management administration and business aspects which

of these is mainly the workload of the private cloud, which need direct access to public cloud
structures. Hybrid cloud architecture requires compatibility between the private and public cloud
structures and a proper connectivity. However, the public cloud part suffers a lot due to
connectivity errors, service breaches and every possible disruption in the service. Data
Management Company has to implement complex hybrid cloud structure with workloads shared
with more than one public cloud providers. This has a huge risk of data security and complicated
design structure of the overall architecture. To mitigate this, companies generally break down the
overall workload to specific public cloud service providers.

system. On top of that, the public server time to time for running different programs of the client
companies (Katyal & Mishra, 2014) can use the private server. It will be easier for anyone to get
access to the private servers in this way. The host company should implement highest-level
security software to handle such conditions. Enabling firewall for getting access to the servers is
also required, as this will help in building layered security systems.

facility and systematically installing the entire client codes in the private servers available there.
The private servers have to be reconnected with the public servers to rebuild a new hybrid cloud

The second crisis is the ethical part. An environment of instability will grasp the
confidence of the employees as shutting down a facility will means there will be a down serge in
the list of employees of the facility. People will lose confidence and this will affect the
performance. On the other hand, a chaos among the clients will need constant consultancy and
improved marketing strategy to cope with it.
The best solution to this problem is to remodel the Melbourne facility to avoid such
