Introduction
Racial discrimination is considered as a practice of treating someone differently, or poorly,
because of the national, race, color, ethnic, or immigrant status. Metropolitan Police Service
contributed efficient efforts towards prevention of race discrimination. This paper represents the
reflection account which is given on the basis of feedback from the formative presentation and
personal experience. On the basis of receive feedback, certain recommendations and suggestions
are also given to improve the functions of the Metropolitan police. This will be done under the
light of certain theories and concepts such as Tuckman's theory. With the help of reflective
report, one can easily measure the feedback and our contribution towards the planning and
preparation of the assessment.
Discussion
After working on this presentation, I got enough knowledge regarding the several aspects of the
race discrimination and how it influences the performance and competitive advantage of an
organization. Generally, it can be said that the organization should take lots of effort toward
reduction of racial discrimination (Lehmann-Willenbrock, 2016). This not only improves it in
future moves but also helps the organization to prosper in the uncertain environment.
Furthermore, I also learnt that how different theories and concepts can apply to resolve a
particular business problem. These concepts and theories give me knowledge about how one
organization can prevent racial discrimination practices in its environment. Furthermore, I also
learnt that reduction in discrimination practices is the core function without which success of an
organization cannot measure (Hall, 2015).

While preparing the presentation, I got feedback that I should focus more on group development.
It is because group development can help the organization in the prevention of racial
discrimination practices up to a certain limit. Metropolitan service should focus more on group
development and also follow Bruce Tuckman's theory of group development. With the help of
Bruce Tuckman's concept, the organization can significantly improve skills of its group
members, and they can utilize their full potential for the profitability of the organization.
According to the Tuckman's theory, management of Metropolitan services can develop their
group by passing them five different stages which are known as forming, storming, norming,
performing, and adjourning (Natvig, 2016). Development by following such concept develops
not only skills but also improves their working behavior.
Apart of this, I also learnt that I need to conduct an in-depth analysis of Metropolitan services.
This not only gives me knowledge of its efforts but also gives knowledge regarding its services
and facilities offered to employees. Generally, it can be said that collaboration and team working
are two such concepts which can make an organization successful in its potential market (Ruch,
2016). These concepts not only improves the performance of organization but also helpful in
gaining competitive advantage. So, it can be recommended that the organization should focus
more on team development and collaboration. If Metropolitan Services are able to develop its
team members it can be significantly able to prevent racial discrimination in its workplace.
Collaboration between team members is an important key with which it can compete in its
potential market in an efficient manner. So, the organization should focus more on establishing
team building and collaborative practices. This not only ignores poor performance but also
improves the work behavior of employees. On the other hand, I also learnt the importance of
strategic collaboration and team building. Strategic collaboration and team building practices

have potential to change the performance and market position of an organization. Furthermore, it
can be said that Metropolitan Services can improve team performance by focusing on the
concept of Belbin Team role. It provides nine tendencies on the basis of which a team can
significantly improve its performance and develop competitive skills (Seck, 2014). So, the
organization needs to focus more on building team members and bringing collaboration. On the
other hand, the organization should conduct risk analysis because that will help in fighting with
the future challenges. Furthermore, the organization can also avoid future uncertainties. Apart of
this, Metropolitan Services can undertake regular audit exercise. This will help the organization
in managing ethical conduct which ultimately improves performance and level of risk.
Conclusion
On the basis of above discussion, it can be concluded that the Metropolitan Services should focus
more on group development. This not only reduces the racial discrimination but also help the
organization in gaining a competitive advantage over its competitors. On the other hand, working
on the presentation gives me a feeling of a professional, and I felt that I am preparing the
presentation to help the management in taking very important decision about the organization.
Thus, it can be said that the organization should adopt Belbin and Tuckman’s theory for bringing
collaboration and team development.
