In writing the essay, my arguments will revolve around the rationales for
conflicts and the validity of the occurrence of the conflicts. In order to create an understanding of
the Mexican- American war, I will first explore the background. This includes the understanding
of how Texas came to be independent as it was originally part of Mexico. The essay will talk
about how Texas later became independent from Mexico and sought to be annexed to America.
Initially Texas was part of Spain, and Americans sought permission so as to develop land in
Texas. How the conflicts begun is an important aspect of the research as their developed
conflicts as Americans started outnumbering the native Mexicans. I will cover the battles and
how they specifically occurred during the conflicts.
The situation escalated to the battle of Alamo as Mexican immigration
increased. There was a government of Texas which declared it free from Mexico. The specifics
of various occurring battles, and even the narratives of people will also be covered as they,
surpass the scope of this essay. I will also cover how the Americans won this battle (Weber,
p.60), and the treaties involved in ending the conflict. People like Abraham Lincoln and other
remarkable people condemned the fight terming it as unconstitutional and questioning the
legitimacy of the war.

For the Mexicans, their National integrity was at risk and they were fighting to protect
themselves from American aggression at the time and in future. The fight was to put their
institutions intact. For the Americans, it was a fight for land, as it was an important resource,
however, they were also trying to show their aggression thinking they had a right to extend their
territories as they wished (Luna, p.54).
