Microfinance Institutions and SME Performance in Ibadan, Nigeria

This project, submitted to the National Open University of Nigeria, examines the impact of microfinance institutions (MFIs) on the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, Nigeria. The study investigates the challenges faced by SMEs, particularly in accessing finance, and explores how MFIs, through microfinance schemes, can contribute to their development. The research methodology includes primary data collection via questionnaires and interviews, alongside secondary data from textbooks, journals, and online resources. The findings indicate a positive correlation between microfinance schemes and SME performance. The project concludes with recommendations for SMEs regarding financial management and suggests areas for future research.
