This report explores the interrelation of happiness and social traits, focusing on the impact of social context on subjective well-being. It uses data from the UK's 2016 European Social Survey (ESS), with a sample size of 1959 participants, to investigate the relationship between happiness and social qualities like trust and support. The study tests two hypotheses using correlation and regression analysis. Results indicate a positive and significant relationship between happiness and both social trust and social support. Statistical assumptions were scrutinized, and a linear regression model identified social trust and social support as significant predictors of happiness. The report concludes that social interaction is an important factor in individual happiness, and that the findings support the notion that social capital plays a crucial role in explaining happiness levels.
