Introduction
The purpose of this paper will be to focus on the challenges that have been faced by me while
working in a team. In addition, the skills that should be helpful for me and an action plan is also
further discussed in this context.
Challenges
Apprentice challenges generate when one individual faces issues in learning through practical
experiences under a prescribed period of time (Laursen, 2015). I have faced these challenges
during the induction week and due to this problems arises while working with my teammates.
This apprentice challenge generally reduces the innovative inventions as the team member do not
cooperate with each other. Due to this reason the branding, operations and the finance of the
business procedure get affected. In addition, there are various hotel challenges that affect the
finance, branding, and operations of their business procedure (Willie et al., 2017). The major
challenges face by hotels are cleanliness, services, technology, and sustainability process and I
have faced such issue while going in education trip with my professors and teammates. From
both these challenges, I have to learn that businesses make proper strategy in order to mitigate
these in their working procedure. However many businesses failed to utilize proper planning and
thereby they faces this type of challenges in their business practices.
Skills
Emotional intelligence refers to the process of managing emotions in an effective way so it
enhances an individual communication skill (Chapin, 2015). Goleman's emotional theory
consists of five elements of emotion such as emotional self-awareness, motivation, self-
regulation, social skills, and empathy. After proper understanding of these theories I can enhance
by business skills and also developed my communication skills too.
Working in a team for completing the respective task is referred to as teamwork. Therefore
proper theoretical aspect should be maintained by me to work within a team. The Tuckman
theory is such theory that demonstrates four stages such as forming, norming, storming and
performing which help to develop the teamwork skills (Willie et al., 2017). By understanding
these theories I can improve my business skills too.

Proper time maintaining help an individual to gain time management and meeting skills. In order
to gain these skills, Covey time management theory of four generations is helpful for me. The
theory defines four generations of time management which are recognition, proper scheduling,
short and medium-term targets and proper timing of work (Dicke et al., 2015).
Business skills demonstrate as the ability of an individual to properly maintain the business
operations and know the use of excel and presentation (Dicke et al., 2015). To enhance the
business skills, a proper understanding of scientific management theory must be present in an
individual. With the help of this theory, a person will observe and evaluate the required steps
needed to enhance the profitability and efficiency of the business.
Action plan
The action plan that I will use in the next three years to improve all these skills is that I will learn
about these approaches properly and thereby use it on my task procedure. In addition, while
working in a team I will give my views that enhance my teamwork and communications skills in
the future.
Conclusion
Proper skills and knowledge help an individual to reduce various types of challenges that they
face in their life. By learning various theories, the challenges also mitigate in the future.
