INTRODUCTION
MG408 CW 1 Assignment Structure (500 words)
In a organisation functions are important which are plays by management and employees
in order to provide the good benefits and increase the performance. This is important for
management to analyse the task and goals of organisation then make plans to perform all
functions (Elgazzar, Tipi and Jones, 2019). Tesco is selected organisation to understand how all
functions are running and supports to attain the business goals. The aim of report to increase
insights about functions and role of management for particular task.
Main Body
The functions of Tesco company are as defined:
Marketing – The role of marketing function is to establish the relationships between
customer and organisation offering to the market which can help to increase the sales and
performance. In Tesco, marketer is playing important role as it analysis the needs of customers
and bring the changes in products according to wants which helps to increase sales (Role of
Marketing Function, 2014).
Finance – Without finance it is not possible run all activities and function as it needed to
buying product, transportation, marketing, operation, employees salary, etc. are the are important
to run a business. The finance manager of Tesco analysis the needs of finance and provide funds
to all department so all activities can perform accordingly and increase the profitability.
Operations/Production – This is main function which is required in all organisation and
supports to operate the all activities by managing task and filling the customer's requirement. In
Tesco, production and operation department analysis the needs and provide that kind of products
and services which make feel them good and satisfied. This helps to increase the sales and
business performance in changing business environment (Wikström, Williams, Trischler and
Rowe, 2019).
Human Resources- The human resource is required in all organisation as it formulate
plans and strategies for employees as well as organisation benefits. In Tesco, HRM manager is
playing vital role as it get the reason of dissatisfaction and employee turn over then formulate
plans which can motivate employees and get ready them to work for long period of time. The
human resource manager provide the maximum benefits and proper guidance to employees who

are working and manage the all performance (Fearon, van Vuuren, McLaughlin and Nachmias,
2020) .
Importance
From the discussion it can be understand that all functions in Tesco are important and
playing the different role in order to operate the activities and sales of products. The marketing
manager analysis the needs of customers and provide them right information which helps in
operation, finance and production department as incremental in their activities which helps to
attain the business goals and increase the brand image (Bennett, 2019).
CONCLUSION
From the report it can be concluded that functions in relation to organisation such as
marketing, operation, human resource, production and operation that are uses to establish a
business and increase the organisational performance. All functions are interlinked where all are
working collectively and manage the task for attaining higher profits.
