INTRODUCTION
Career research can be described as an approach which provides an opportunity to
individuals for discovering their interests as well as exploring varied options for working or
acquiring more learning experiences. Main purpose of preparing career research report is to go
through varied career opportunities in order to select one course of action that is to undertaken
by individuals. As a recent graduates, I am willing to establish my career as a web designer in IT
industry. Industry of Information technology has immense scope and majorly involved in
development of varied software, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Job role of web
designer is a innovative and creative which needs strategical thinking (Lent and Brown, 2020) .
This project report aims to identify and conceptualise employability practices for recent
graduates in relevance with choosing career path. This report also targets to gain insights
regarding relevant career options and information of workings of IT industry.

Technology is advancing from a fast pace and web designing is also a big part of it.
Companies are operating in a time where all the aspects of business are connected through web.
Firms invest time and money in web designing so that they can get more market attention and
increase awareness about their existence (Manian, 2020). Various trends that impacts the
profession of web designer are explained below:
Impact of Globalisation- Globalisation reduces boundaries of nations and joins the whole
world as one single unit. It facilitate operations of companies in every corner of the world. It
demonstrates the shift of enterprises functions and operations on the basis of the nation they
operate in. Globalisation creates many changes in profession of web designer as it alters the
coarse of the job by giving it global attention. It allows companies to internationalized their local
websites by translating them into various languages (Schmidt and Tang, 2020). Positive impact
of globalisation is that it make local businesses websites functional and accessible to global
masses. It changes the traditional way of designing websites and outlines new ways of
incorporating web layouts with both localization and global considerations. Companies now
makes their website with the plan to succeed and ensures that their firm's website is conveniently
adopted by all people with different languages.

Impact of Technology- There has been significant and noticeable modifications in
technology over past years. The profession of web design revolves around technology only as it
is highly influenced by innovation. Technology is the primary and essential part of web
designing as it is the lays basis for web. If companies fails to keep up with the advance trends of
web designing, they might become outdated and no more relevant to targeted audience. Web
designers used various type of technologies like vector and raster graphics editors in order to
design web prototype. Innovations in technology like mobile web has bring major impact on web
design as now the websites has to be more slicker, focused and streamlined (Colombo, Mercorio
and Mezzanzanica, 2019). The negative impact of technology on web designing is rising of apps.
Apps have reduce the market of web designing by major extent in past decade because users
have shifted from browsers to mobile apps. Web designing does not need promotion in itself but
marketing trends, innovations and modifications in online viewpoint had a major impact on
overall growth and success of website and its presence online.
Knowledge and skills required to be a successful web designer
Knowledge and skills is the abilities and talent of a person to perform their practices in
their chosen professional field. All these knowledge and skills is gained by learning in academic
institutes, colleges, attending work shops, training sessions, a specific course and so on. All these
learning style helps a person to conduct their practices with in an organisation with more
efficiently. Each person required basic skills which are differentiate on the basis of hard and soft
skills that is helpful for any business to make innovate and unique designs (Wuni and Shen,
2020. These skills or knowledge are essential for a web designer to work in an organisation that
enables them to enhance in their productivity and earning level for the future development. The
multiple skills which are important for an individual in relevance to designing or IT sector are
shown below-
Technical skills- It refers to the practical skills to conduct mechanical, scientific,
information technology and designing task. To use graphic designing, MS word, web server,
HTML and many more they must have high technical skills to conduct their practices on
computer easily. They also learn various knowledge about languages such C plus, Java and son
on to make creative and unique designs (Barton, Bruce and Schreiber, 2018).
Problem solving skills- It is also most necessary skills which a web designer must have
to perform their job role in any company most effectively. The web designer must know about

various methods, shortcuts and codes to solve the problems related to computer system. This is
electronic item which can create problems any time and anywhere due to virus, overloaded data
and many more which need to fixes during the construction of a online website. Web designer
must be ready all time to resolve these problems and find advance solution to create effective
web content.
Communication skills- It refers to the ability to transfer information and convey most
important message in most effective way (Zhou and Lam, 2019). It is most essential for a web
designer to communicate effectively as they work with other content writers, computer
developers and clients during the process of designs and creating websites.
With these skills, web designer also required to develop some expertise techniques to become
innovative and successful in designing field. The various expertise techniques in reference to we
designer profession are as follows-
Creative thinking- To make innovative designs, a web designer need to think creatively
as designs is depended on innovative thinking. Web designers require this techniques to
implement content ideas, graphics and images for a page of website from visualisation to launch
a productive project.
To make artistic graphic design- A web designer requires to know and understand the
concepts of using graphics to increase the creativity of a website (Huang, Hew and Fryer, 2022).
It includes the sizing, placement and choice of graphics and statical data to help transfer the
necessary information, create and entertain a pleasing aesthetic for clients to fulfil their
expectation.
EVALUATION
I am interested in the profession of job design because I have complete my education in
this field. I have extensive knowledge about all the software in trend and I can effectively
organise all the details about a companies on their website. I have been successful in gaining
technical skills over time which have help me to solve minor problems I use to face before. I
select this profession over others I applied for as I can see technology is advancing very fast and
this profession will provide me more opportunities and growth in future.

CONCLUSION
From the above provided information, it has been concluded that searching for a career
path has great significance in student's life as it helps them to move on in their employability
practices. Globalisation and technology has a crucial role in development of information
technology as it opens up ways for grabbing varied opportunities. Globalisation allows IT
industry to flourish on a world wide basis through free movement of information from one
country to another. Advanced and new technology have great impact on IT industry as it
provides numerous key trends that are to undertaken by professionals such as zero trust security,
artificial intelligence, automation of information and many more. Varied skills that are needed to
be undertaken by individuals for becoming their successful career as a web designer such as
communication, technical, graphic designing skills and many more. Apart from skills, expertise
in creating and maintaining websites is also important for career development in field of web
designer.
