Business Pitch: Dual-Purpose Mobile Device for CQUniversity MGMT20143

The business pitch was prepared for the MGMT20143 Think Big course at CQUniversity.

1DESCRIPTION AND JUSTIFICATION
With advancement of technology in every possible field people are exploring options
to combine functions of many devices into one. This is already done in today’s smartphones
where most of the functions of various devices are compiled into them. The smartphones has
made the functions of watch, calculator, pager and many other devices to be redundant.
However it is seen that in most of the cases people travel with both their smartphones and
their laptops at the same time, this is because there are many functions that are still not
performed efficiently by the smartphones which the computers can. Most of the smartphones
are operated by the android operating systems. The iPhones are however operated by the ios
operating system. There is a need that is identified to reduce the need of carrying both the
laptops and the phones. Therefore the business innovation proposed is to combine the utilities
of the computers with the mobile phones which will help the people with reduced need of
carrying multiple devices at their workplace or other places. The idea is to program the
phones in a way that they can support programs from multiple platforms. There will also be
the opportunity for fixing peripherals to the mobile phones like keyboard with a touch pad
which will give it a complete transformation into a functional computer.
The problem which is already discussed that many of the functions of a laptop cannot
be performed by an android device therefore people have to carry both their laptop and their
phone at the same time. In this case the problem will be solved by combining the utility of the
two.
The benefits that will be generated by the business will be having three dimensional
effect. Benefits will be enjoyed by founder, the customers and the general public. The owner
will be enjoying the benefits and profits of the business. From a client perspective, the
business idea will make computing operations easier and convenient as people will be
performing all the tasks in one device. For public, they will get employment.

Any innovation to be applied in a particular existing product needs to be justified by
proper reasons and the people must know why that particular innovation is needed and what
the various implication of that innovation are. The particular innovation will require the
software and hardware experts to contemplate the possible options where the integration of
the laptops and the mobiles may take place. Already many of the functions and applications
of computers are already available in the android devices, there are also windows phones
available. The experts need to identify what are the gaps that are still persisting between the
two products. These needs to be synchronised so that the newly developed mobile phones
may perform the functions of a computer in the new scenario. The mobile phones needs to be
fitted with slots to which external peripheral devices can be attached. When the technology
will be developed it will be very helpful for the people at large as they will carry only one
devise and perform various functions.
