QUESTION – 1
Organisational behaviour is an interesting challenge related to the individuals and the group of
people working together in a team. Maintaining the organisational behaviour can be a bit
challenging during some situations while working in a team. Organisational behaviour is related
to the behaviour of an individual working in an organisation. Every person works with having
their own manner of behaviour. It is important to understand each other and respect their choices
and preferences. My experience working with the team was very learning and interesting. The
organisational behaviour of people helps in practicing rational thinking while keeping the
emotions aside (Nuckcheddy, 2018). It helps in predicting the human behaviour of other
members of the team. With the proper understanding of organisational behaviour it helped to
maintain the balance between human as well as technical values. It gives the opportunity to be
productive and maintaining my dignity within the organisation. Effective communication is very
important within a team to provide better understanding in the team members. However, there
are some barriers come in the way of effective communication. In the case where the
communication is not effective can lead to some risks for both individually and for the entire
team. One of the main barriers related to effective communication is the differences in languages
and cultures. There are many people working in a team. Each has their own cultural and speaks
their language. It can be difficult to fit in such a diverse environment. It is important to
understand the cultural differences in communication. One word can have a different meaning in
different languages which can creates problems due to misunderstandings. For example northern
people can understand the term ‘y’all’ but it can be difficult for the people to find out what it
means. The chances of cultural differences can even happen within the boundaries of the
country. If an individual fails to understand these cultural differences, it can lead to offend the
other person. Because of such offensive conditions the communication breaks between people.
Different languages, using slangs, having strong accents can frustrate the communication
between two people. Cultural differences affect the way an individual expresses their emotions.
For example the space for privacy varies in between different cultures and during different social
setting. Another barrier in the way of communication is the lack of transparency and trust. While
working in a group the most basic and very important thing is the trust between team members.

Trust can be used as a ladder to the way of success. But when the team lack the trust, it becomes
difficult to survive in the group. The process of communication becomes very difficult when
there is lack of trust and transparency (Wood and et.al., 2019). For example if an individual feel
that other people are holding something back, it will make them anxious and will make them
speculate. It creates more difficult for the team members to process during the time of
communication. These barriers in the effective communication are overcome with many factors.
An individual must check before starting the communication if it is a good time. One must be
clear in the language which will be understandable by the other person. People must respect the
desire if people not wishing to communicate. And lastly, communication must be done a location
which is free of any distractions.
QUESTION – 2
Vroom’s expectancy theory helps in assuming the results coming from conscious choices. The
purpose of this theory is to maximise the pleasure and minimise the pain. They believed that
employee’s performance is based on the factors regarding the individuals such as personality,
Skills and knowledge. It suggests that individuals have different goals and objectives which can
be motivated with the help of positive correlation between the efforts put in by the individual and
the performance received by them. The required performance can be achieved with the help of
giving rewards desired by them (Kapur, 2018). These rewards will help in satisfying the needs of
an individual. Providing rewards which are value by the employees is an intrinsic aspect. It helps
in rewarding the individual for their role descriptions which are recognised by the organisation.
This helps in bringing new opportunity for the employees or help in the financial basis. These
rewards can be a wide range of things. The important point is to find the correct reward for the
individual. When the employees of an organisation performs above and beyond the expectations
in a positive way and it is logical thing to offer them some reward. This is a way of showing the
staff that organisation appreciates their work and valuable ideas. There are many pros and cons
for this approach of reward giving and hence it should be given carefully to avoid the cons. Some
of the advantages are, maintaining a healthy competition within the organisation. Being
competitive is a part of human behaviour. It is show from a toddler to an adult and even in senior
citizens. The drive for competition never stops. In an organisation competition can be based on
the level of salary paid. Offering rewards can made an advantage of desire of an individual to

win. Another advantage is the clearly defined goals. When the professionals of an organisation
work with the analogy, they will understand their goals which are supposed to be achieved.
Reward programs leads in providing clearly and simple work objectives. People tend to achieve
this goal when they know the price. Along with this, reward programs can create more employee
retention. Such programs gives the employees a sense of control regarding their income from the
organisation. They thus work harder and smarter to obtain better results. Some of the
disadvantages of the reward system includes having built in limitations as in the employee are
more likely to develop stress which can affect negatively. Resentment is yet another con of the
program where the employees can resent their co-workers in putting fewer efforts. They might
work less than their fair share amount (Teichmann, 2019). There are also high chances of
manipulations as rewards can lead to the idea of controlling the employees and they will more
powerful to attempt a bribe or other manipulation methods to get the reward. A better reward
system must have the point based rewarding which enhances the transparency. There should be a
customisable approval process which helps in making things simple and easy to customise the
nomination process. There must be supporting peer recognition and rewarding which will make
them cheer the employee from their fellow colleagues.
