Reflective Essay
Teamwork can be understood as the collaborative efforts of the individual team
members to accomplish a task in the most effective and efficient manner(Warrick,
2016). Teamwork helps in accomplishing the tasks with great ease and efficiency and
combines the synergies of all the members to create an aura of positive synergies
(Ghaferi & Dimick, 2016). The purpose of the assignment is to reflect on the teamwork
experience and to evaluate the effectiveness of the team work in the group assignment
of Job Satisfaction.
The primary objective of Teamwork is to effectively finish the work in stipulated time.
The first and foremost step of teamwork is the divide the work effectively according to
the core strength of the person. It is important to delegate the work in accordance to the
skill set of a person to increase the efficiency of the work (Tseng, Morris & Tang, 2015).
Another important step is to divide the work for easy delegation of work responsibility
to the individual team members (Scott & Queen, 2017). The work was divided into 5
parts with clear cut work responsibility for every person, for example Ayah Hazim was
given the task to write on Advantages and disadvantages, Dhur Kiir was given the work
of analysis, Guyang Zhang was given the responsibility of covering the introduction part,
Wei Ye to build a connect between job satisfaction and employee productivity and Wang

to write the conclusion part of the assignment. The work was divided on the basis of
individual capabilities and was decided unanimously. This shows the effectiveness of
working in a team, it results in better division of work with full satisfaction towards
work amongst the team members.
We were aware of the deadline for the assignment to be submitted and started counting
our day backwards to finish the work atleast 4 days before time so that we can review
the work, analyse the working of each group member, take the feedback, suggest
changes and compile the final report. It was also decided to sit together daily for almost
2 hours to discuss the best ideas to put into the report and work around those ideas.
Another important thing in team work is the approaching the work, it was unanimously
decided to create a watsapp group and message if someone is facing any difficulty with
a particular concept or in conducting the research.
Building teams and getting the work done form the team is a very important attribute
which leads to good teamwork. It takes a leader to lead the team to achieve and
accomplish the tasks for the team (Serrat, 2017). A leader is pivotal to the group as he
guides them in doing the work and corrects them wherever they are going wrong. He
has the additional responsibility of motivating the employees and to engage the
members in team building activities to build trust and a bond of strong relationship
among the group members (Burke, 2017). I was the leader of the group, primarily
because I have a working experience of 3 years and have a good understanding of how
the corporates work, Moreover I was really proactive when the team was discussing on
the selecting a leader for the group. My team members had entrusted faith in me and
given me the responsibility to ensure that I not only complete my job with full efficiency
but at the same time monitor and review the work of the entire team members and help
them whenever required. This was a giant work for me but I was determined to
accomplish my duties with increased efficiency.
I created a Google drive link and asked every member to work on a single word
document and upload their work. This way I was able to track the progress of the
assignment and able to correct them wherever I found some research was missing. It is
very important for business managers to use business technology in team work,

saving some precious time at hand. Usage of Google drive helped me immensely as I was
able to complete my work on time and review the work of my team members.
Feedback is another component of Teamwork which plays an important role, as it helps
to identify not only the weakness, but also the strength of the team member. I
personally believe in constructive feedback and every day I used to send mails to my
team members on their work and other researched documents to help them in
accomplishing their work on time. My feedback was taken in a positive manner and we
were able to complete our work on time.
Towards the end, I complied the work, reviewed the work and checked it in accordance
to the marking rubric. I also gave everyone an opportunity to suggest any more
concepts if they wanted to add in the business report, once every stakeholder of the
assignment was satisfied, the work was submitted to the university, almost 3 days
before time.
Using Business Technology of Google drive was one of the critical elements which
helped in collating the work, review the work at regular intervals and finish the work in
time. This impacted our group cohesion and the effectiveness of the work. Hence, it
becomes very important to make use of business technology tools which can help to
expedite the work and complete it in time. Another critical incident was when I gave
feedback to my team members on their work; they were exhilarated with joy on hearing
good comments coming out from the group leader.
To conclude, the group assignment was very helpful for me to evaluate the importance
of team work and how to use it practically. The assignment helped in getting all the
members close and we have realized that effective team work can accomplish any task
at hand. The essence of the team work lies in strong communication, team building
activities, feedback mechanism and clearly defined objectives to accomplish a task.
Team work has far greater efficiency and synergy in comparison to individual work and
effort.
