Effective communication is essential for business which can be verbal, digital, analog and
written. In business, effective communication helps in achieving the goals and objectives as it
requires in all the business function to contact with each other in formal and informal way. It
helps in establishing relationship, influencing negotiation, to deliver the presentation and solving
problems. The characteristics of business communication are discussed below:
Conciseness
At the workplace, time is considered as the essential element. In business, it is considered as
wordiness in which communication is done with less possible words and in an effective way to
make the receiver understand the message. It is essential for effective communication as it helps
in saving both time and cost. Reports are required to be concise which includes the essential
message for the audience (Mishra, et al., 2014). Concise report and messages are more appealing
and comprehensible for the audiences.
Consideration
Business communication requires taking audience into consideration. It requires considering the
background and receiver’s view point while delivering the message. It requires maintaining the
self-respect for audience and including the words for conveying the message completely and
tailoring of message is required in the effective business communication. Concrete words are
required for built-in business and exact terminologies are required for communication (Ruben
