Post 3: Summarizing Learning
The contribution of the discussions on effective business communication have enlightened me on the
significance of using the right methodology while communicating with colleagues at the workplace.
It also made me realize the importance of attaining both listening and speaking skills to achieve my
objectives as an effective business communicator. During research, I came across articles and
journals that specify the steps that can be taken by business owners and professionals to improvise
their communication skills and increase their chances of selling a higher number of products and
services to potential customers. The three key points that I have learnt from the discussion include –
assumptions should not be made before the start of a conversation; importance of asking questions
and attention to non-verbal messages of the speaker. I can apply this knowledge in my career ahead
as a marketing professional. I aspire to intake the position of a manager years down the line. The
knowledge on effective business communication will enable me to have a better relationship with
customers and my colleagues both. For example, I will become a better listener and try to read the
body language of the speaker to understand the actual problem. I will also refrain from judging
people beforehand and let them present their side of the story. Along with this, I would always ask
the customers about – How we can help them better in achieving business objectives through our
marketing strategies and their expectations from us. Overall, I would like to highlight that the
discussions on effective business communication strategies will assist me in professional and
personal life both.
