Slack is a method of digital business communication and this method offers companies,
organizations and other entities to develop personal, committed workplace with a personalized
URL (Anderson, 2016). The users will be able to invite the team for joining and starting work
after a quick sign-up process. Slack, which is a messaging application, is organized into direct
messages and network for coordinating interactions and substitute correspondence, which could
be spread by texts, text messages, or meetings with individuals. Community networks are
available to all participants of a company and can include everything from specific sales and
marketing to casual conversations and memory sources. The characteristics of Slack are as
follows:
1) Provides keyboard shortcuts- The keyboard shortcuts helps in reducing the time involved in
communication and helps in reducing the clumsiness. For example if (Ctrl+ /) is pressed, Slack
provides a quick list to its users.
2) Integrations- Slack can integrate well with the much software such as Google Docs, Trello,
Jira, GetHub and many more making communications easy and quick (Chishiro et al., 2017).
3) Highlight Words- The highlight words option allows the users to get notifications when the
team members are discussing on some topics and the former is not a active participant in the
same.
4) Advanced search- Slack provides its users with search modifiers which help in narrowing the
field. Some examples of the same are from:[username], to:[channel or username] and many more
(Johnson, 2018).

5) Desktop notifications- When the users are using the desktop version of Slack they can get
desktop notifications. This is of great use in case one user is a part of many Slack teams as it
provides the user to navigate in between chats that too very easily.
6) Slack reminders- Users can set reminders using Slack for example : “Conference is on
Wednesday 10 a.m.”. The reminders can be cancelled as well by using “/remind
cancel[reminder]” (Ganis & Waszkiewicz, 2018).
