Introduction
Self-reflection is one of practice helping learning from the experience. A manager plays major
role in the organization and there are various constraints in the organization that are help
responsible for the success of the company. The purpose of this reflection is learning from
previous experience and understanding the relevance of managerial role along with various
challenges like conflicts, negotiation (Bailey, 2018). The constraints like motivation, and
effective communication would be discussed as major learning in the report.

Reflection
Project manager role reflect various responsibility and challenges in the organization. My past
experience of being project manager in apparel manufacturing company in global market has
provided various aspects to be learned. I did not know about the challenges I would be facing
while working with a cross cultural team in international market. As the experience initiated, the
major challenge was communication among the team and with other departments in the
international market. The key barrier includes language in international market, as the cultural
factors are very different for china than Australia. In order to overcome this challenge I took
training from the senior executive, which include the induction training providing learning
regarding business culture in china and language.
As the work get into progress the performance seems to be degraded by the employees. The key
issue analyzed that was responsible for this cause included demotivation among the employees
and one of the conflicts among the two team members was also reported. This result into delay in
the pre planed schedule for the project implementation. This reflected the important of
motivation among the team and need for organization team through negotiating skills that are to
be implement (Abdulraheem Sal, 2016).

One of the theories that must have been implemented in order to keep the employees and
team members motivated to perform better would have been implemented. One of such
motivations theory include Maslow’s need hierarchy theory, this include two major
factors that is hygiene factors and motivational factors. The hygiene factors are the key
reason for employee being dissatisfied from the work and organization. This includes
social welfare, drinking water, basic facilities, and base salary. However motivational
factors are responsible for increased satisfaction among the employees like incentive
plan, promotion, job rotation, development plan, and employee recognition program
(Peters & Ryan, 2015).
Conflict negotiation strategies
As per the management concept there are five types of conflict resolution strategies that
were the major learning for me. This includes avoiding, competing, accommodating,
collaboration, and compromising.
Effective communication – From the challenges faced, the major learning included
effective communication skills, as it is important for not only disseminating relevant
information among the team, but for building relationship among the team members,
increased collaboration, and maintaining harmony among the team (Ghaderi, 2016).
Action to be taken in future
For another project execution, where I would be leading as project manager in the organization
the learning’s that I will be using in near future includes
Implementing induction training – This would be done by me as this will increase the
employee relation and collaboration among the team. Through this, the communication

would be improved as effective introduction and dissemination of relevant information
among the team will improve the understanding (Bird & Mendenhall, 2016).
Motivation factors will be implemented The major challenge was decrease in
motivation among the team members. Considering this, the motivation theories learned
from the experience will be applied. For instance, the incentive plan will be prepared for
the next experience in the organization. This may include financial or non-financial
incentive like rewards and promotion. Other than this, employee recognition will be
implied twice within the project execution to keep the employees motivated for
performing better till competition of the project.
Resolving conflict strategy – Since one of the major challenge was conflict among the
team member which may affect the harmony among the team. I would be considering the
collaboration conflicting strategy to resolving the problem (Wong, 2007).

Conclusion
