Executive summary
The report focuses on various decision making alternatives. The alternatives include
intuition, logic and balanced method. I should come up with the best alternative that suits my
strengths and personality as a student. Additionally, the report discusses the major and minor
decisions that I make in my everyday life.
The study helped me find out that I use the balanced decision-making alternative. The
alternative suits my instinctive personality and allows in coming up with appropriate long-
term decisions. However, the instinctive personality could result in making rush decision
making, which could lead to failure.
However, using logic, intuition and the balanced decision-making method allows one
to come up with solutions for different situations. The situations depend on the matter at
hand, time and knowledge levels of the decision makers. Therefore, before making a
conclusion, the three methods require consideration to select the best alternative.

Introduction
The purpose of the report is to understand my strengths and weaknesses in decision
making. The purpose is to help me come up with the best decision-making alternative that
suits my personality. I find that sometimes my personality cause bias when coming up with a
solution. I tend to make rash decisions without proper analysis or research. Therefore, the
study will help me take caution and prevent my personality from influencing my decisions. I
intend to understand how to select the best decision-making alternative that suits the situation
at hand.
Personal daily decisions
Minor decisions
Every day since joining college I make various decisions to become a better person.
One of the decisions that I make daily includes becoming a better listener. The act includes
paying attention to get the right information before giving a reply. I made the decision after
understanding the need for paying attention while in college. Therefore, I pay more attention
to mentors, lecturers, parents and teachers. The goal is to become a better human being while
in and after college.
The other decision I make daily include expecting better from myself and the persons
I interact with. The decisions enable me to get the best out of myself and friends. I am able to
push myself to work extra hard in my studies and extra curriculum activities. Additionally,
expecting better from friends allows me to perform analysis on people before creating a
strong relationship.
Major decision
One of the major decisions I made was deciding which course to enrol when I join
college. I decided to join business management while still in high school to avoid last minute
confusion. The decision helped me to engage in various personal development activities such

as working hard to boost my GPA. The decision also included choosing the best school to
pursue the course.
Moreover, I decided to improve myself as an all-around student by engaging in high-
school noncurricular activities (Larson, 2019). I joined both the debate and athletics club to
become a better student before graduation. Additionally, excelling in both academics and
noncurricular activities boosted my chances of getting into my school of choice.
Decision-making preferences
There are several decision-making preferences such as intuition, logic and balance
(Akinci, 2011). The methods come in handy depending on the situation, time and personality.
Intuition refers to using gut feeling while making decisions. Intuition combines with sense-
making expertise and mind and body sensations.
On the other hand, logic focuses on dedicating more time to an idea before coming up
with a conclusion (Leappahead.com, 2019). Logical thinking requires considering all possible
outcomes of a decision before coming to a conclusion. Logical thinking comes in handy for
decisions with long-term effects.
The other method includes balanced decision making, which considers factors such as
ethics, legislation and moral standards. The process requires more time due to the slow nature
of coming up with conclusions (Białaszek, 2018). The method integrates both logic and
intuition while developing solutions to various issues. While making decisions, I use the
balanced method to enable coming up with appropriate decision. The balanced method allows
me to come up with the appropriate long-term decisions regarding my education and future
career (Mindtools.com, 2019).
Personality style, decision-making style, bias and blind spots
I have an instinctive personality that pushes me to yearn for respect and authority in
everything I do. The trait causes me to follow my gut and not take much consideration into

what other people are saying. Additionally, I believe that my decisions are right, which
results in little research when making conclusions (Białaszek, 2018).
Consequently, the instinctive personality brings up the bias of not researching or
considering all the possible outcomes of a decision. I tend not to listen to advice from friends
and experienced persons before making a decision (Pappas, 2019). Therefore, in most cases, I
fail for making a decision that would have succeeded if I sought assistance.
Sources of data and use of decision-making tools
I collect data from the items I interact with on a daily basis. I record the data and
observations in a personal journal that I carry everywhere I go. The journal has data collected
from sources such as class schedules, other people, weather, and Google. The different data
sources assist in determining what to do in various situations (Dhami, 2012). For example,
class schedules help me decide when to do private work while the weather comes in handy
when deciding what to wear.

From the table, the balanced decision-making method has the highest rating. Therefore, I tend
to think things through without rushing and considering all the possible outcomes.
Evaluation of decisions and their significance
I always prefer to consider all points of view when making a decision. The action
enables me to get the best solution in most situations. The points that I consider include
advice from friends, research from book and online sources and expert counsel. Moreover, I
think through issues to avoid missing important aspects of the situation (Edwards, 2019). The
act has enabled me to come up with the best solution due to lack of assumptions or omissions
when deciding the best alternative. However, I sometimes prefer making fast decisions
depending on the situation (Edwards, 2019). I often make fast decisions when faced with an
emergency or a simple issue that does not require much thinking.
Conclusion
Balanced decision making allows me to come up with the best solution for daily
experiences. The method allows me to consider all possible solutions and seek advice from
experts and friends. Therefore, I end up with the best decision that suits my need. However,
sometimes I make rush decisions based on my intuition. The rash decisions arise from my
personality that makes me authoritative and controlling. Therefore, I should improve on that
weakness to avoid making irrational decisions.
Recommendations
I would recommend the use of logic, intuition and balance decision-making methods.
The ability to combine the three approaches will help in coming up with the best choices. The
use of any of the approaches depends on the situation and time available for making a
decision. I would recommend that one uses intuition when coming up with short term
decisions. On the other hand intuition and balanced decision making comes in handy when
making long-term decisions.
