1. Reading analysis
Providing proper space while telling stories at home can help in the identification of
the culture that exists. These provide assistance in the growth of the future generation and at
the same time ensure that the future generation understand the importance of the struggles
undertaken.
An example can be given that highlights the manner in which Canadian people can move
forward as a country. The importance provided to the native people about the manner in
which they can exercise their rights is required. Another example is that it is also necessary
that reconciliation among students be conducted so that communities have a healthy life in
the country (Amorós et al., 2016).
The role of a memoir in this instance is that it can help in preserving the thoughts and ideas
that can be passed on from one generation.
The memoirs that existed before and the present set are essential for national identity because
it can help in providing a cultural definition to the people and ensure that Canada progress
and develops as a country.
2. Connections to course content
The North American stance on race has improved largely due to the contribution made by
Abraham Lincoln in the yesteryears. In the present world, large improvements have been
made and racial discrimination does not define the North American culture.
The reason for this is the fact that the recent appointment of a black person as a President has
proven the growth of the country. At the same time, the united manner in which people of
different races reside in the country help in proper development of the races (Shehu, 2015).

Sharing stories via memoir can help the future generation of either race to understand the
struggles that had been endured. This can help the future generation to bring forward the
nation and refrain from activities such as slavery.
The relevance of this with Baldwin’s work is relevant in the modern world as it helps in
understanding the progress of a nation and equal opportunities are provided to people for
equal contribution towards the job.
The importance of this being taught at schools is that children can understand the struggles
that were undertaken by the people to make America a safe and prosperous place for people.
One of the examples can be the fact the students remain aware of the historical
development of America and at the same another example can be in the form that students
learn the value of working together in a particular field.
3. Personal connections
Based on the analysis of the texts I have learned the development and growth of America
along with the rich cultural history that define Canada. I have learned that stories help in the
progress and development of future generation.
The impact of the text read has made me gain a clear idea about the rich development that
have taken place in the country along with the importance of respecting family and friends.
There can be no clear method of altering the text.
