Boons of Migration:
The political as well as economic scenario of a country is dependent on the nature as
well as rate of immigrants that folk together, in the country in each year. In fact, people who
migrates from one country to the other, is actually adds to the responsible citizens as well as
productive labour force of a country. ‘Migration’ is a global phenomenon and takes place for
several reasons. As per the, 'push pull' theory and ‘wage’ theory of migration, people from
the third world countries dream of a better living standard empowered by better wages or
salary, as compared to their home country and with the hope of making their dreams true they
migrate to first world countries. As the economy of first world countries has a stable base for
industrialization and high labour absorption power. Again, the excellent opportunities for
higher education as well as lucrative jobs, waiting in the first world countries, summon them.
Often migration occurs due to the occupational purpose. Such as American outsourcing
company sends their operation manager from the home country to India, to train the native
employees of the same company in India. In this case, migration becomes the reason for the
dissemination of skills and knowledge from a more developed country to a less developed
one. Migration also gives birth to the ethnic minority group as well as enrich the population
of a country with ethnic diversity. In this way migration accelerate cultural integration,
generation from wisdom, knowledge as well as skills from one country to the other, or, form
one ethnic group to the other (De Haas Castles, S. and Miller 2019).

Responses to Student’s blog:
I have understood several reasons behind migration, from the vivid explanation
associated with the functionalist 'push pull' theory and the immigration intention of people,
all over the world. It is true that, there are several factors, in each countries, especially, in the
less developed one, which pushes the educated generation from the country towards the
lucrative opportunities of the fast growing and developed countries. In this case, the push
factors are- population growth, lack of economic opportunities. On the other hand the
opportunities like higher education, employment generation, high paid-jobs, sophisticated life
style, lower population density and infrastructural facilities, pull or drag people from the
economically backward countries and the countries with high population density as well.
This post has also assisted me to conduct a multi-dimensional analysis of the 'push
pull' theory in the context of migration. It is true that 'push pull' theory could not be used as
one of the best theories to trace out all possible reasons of migration. One can only
implement 'push pull' to understand only the primary causes, trends of migration. For
example, migration due to avoid political turbulence, migration to evade war-like situation,
migration for religious reasons cannot be explained with the use of 'push pull' theory.
