Central Issue: The central issue of the article is to present the current employment
situation of the people in Oklahoma with severe disabilities. It is due to that reason many of the
disabled individuals are unable to get jobs and lead a proper lifestyle (Mårtensson, Jacobsson &
Engström, 2014). For that, a program called the Supported Employment has been undertaken to
assist the people who are capable of employment despite their disabilities.
Background: Despite its positive objectives, the program faced several disappointing
records of accomplishment that allowed it be departed from the government contract. However,
it can be said that the Milestone made a balance of improvement from the previous system as the
vendors got paid when the clients made certain changes in the path towards employment
(Corrigan, Druss & Perlick, 2014). If compared with the previous record, it can be said that the
Milestone is certainly made a better balance of improvement. The new system made a significant
improvement in terms of payment and placement. There have also been better results in term of
low cost towards job closure.
Advantages and disadvantages of the New Milestone: The new Milestone system
provides various advantages that includes the hourly system through which the hourly system.

This allows individuals to work more effectively and in good faith and effort. In terms of
disadvantage, if a vendor were to suggest an hourly time even passing for a period of two years,
it would drop out after a while (Allen et al., 2014). Vendors are very much uncomfortable with
the process of emphasizing milestone to be used for long-term methods of employment, this
would allow reimbursable outcome towards Supported Employment.
Characteristics of Social Service: In terms of social service, the studies show there are
thousands of individuals who are living with disability. These individuals are moving into a
community that allows de-institutionalization by forcing to close state institutions. There are
many social service that offers vocational preparation for the people who have mild disability.
This shows how the social service helps in training the people with disabilities in order to keep
their jobs. Under the social service, the programs are backed by various federal funds that allow
the possibility of serving individuals with mental illness and traumatic brain injury (World
Health Organization, 2014).
Recommended Solution and Rationale: The mental health social workers by the means
of therapy, support and advocacy allow the perspective of people to manage the social factors
like employment and well-being. Social services allow the option in building resilience among
individuals and their network and it allows communities to transform the wellbeing and improve
the social and economical factors. By working at various settings towards mental health,
Supported Employment programs allow people to qualify themselves for the adult community
mental health services. These factors would include building a relation with people, providing a
proper guidance and therapy based program, by arranging proper support and care and ensuring
the safety of the individuals.
