INTRODUCTION
Millennium Mills is a Flour mill of 20th century which is located in West Silvertown on
south side of Royal Victoria Dock, in between Excel London Exhibition centre
alongside of Britannia Village and Thames Barrier in New Ham, London England. A
plan is proposed to develop these place by developing it as Commercial building,
Residential building or a Leisure or culture Facility. This presentation is providing a
brief comparison of these three building options to utilise for developing area of
Millennium Mills for different purpose. By considering future safety and health
perspective these three options will be compared in the presentation.

Commercial Building
Commercial building is known as a commercial property that refers to a real state
property that can be used for business activities. Usually this can be consider as building
that houses businesses. Millennium Mills can be developed as commercial building to
provide housing to different business organizations. This is how many job opportunities
also can be created with this development.

Residential Building
A residential building can be defined as the building that provide approximately floor area for dwelling
purposes. It also provides sleeping, accommodation along with or without cooking and dining both facilities.
The millennium Mills also can be developed as residential building to providing housing to people. This is also
one of better idea that can be used for the development process.

Leisure or Cultural Building
Leisure buildings consisting of sports arenas, stadia, theatres, swimming pools and many
other facilities. This buildings are considered as structures that are designed for the
entertainment of people. As per this proposal building can be converted into a cultural
and leisure building.

Difference Between Different buildings
 Size
All three type of building have different size. The size of building is based on the
requirements of people who will be using these place.
Commercial Building- This buildings ar4 complex in structure and consists of too much
furniture, open space and complex electrical circuits and heavy machines to facilitate the
all the business purposes.
Residential Building- This building are less complex than commercial place and consist
of less furniture and multi floor arrangement can be made to accommodate more people.
The size of building depends on the people and their family size.
Leisure and Cultural Building- This buildings are more consists of open space. This also
require to have more facility to accommodate more people with in same floor for events
and different programs. There are different sub structure are also required in one
common structure. The structure used in this building could have bigger structures.

 Permits Required for Building
Commercial Building- To develop commercial building there are different permits are
need to be taken before and after the construction. The hand over process also requires
complex paper eork to utilise building in right manner. It also required to take permits to
legalise the use of building as commercial building.
Residential Building- In this type of building also there are some permits are need to be
taken in order to legalise the building to start utilisation of it but the process of permit is
easier than process of taking permits for other type of buildings.
Leisure and Cultural Building- The permits that are need to be taken or this type of
building are too easy and simple. For development of this type of building, permits are
only need to be taken at initial level.

 Use of Machineries
Commercial Building- The machineries that are used in this type of building are too
complex due to multi-purpose use. Some equipments are too small & complex and some
are large and too heavy.
Residential Building- In this type of building are small. Most of the machineries are
related to home appliances.
Leisure and Cultural Building- The machinery that is used I n this building are mostly of
large size because it requires to meet the demand of large audience.

Recommendation
As per the comparison of various type of buildings each structure have different
requirements. If all the aspects are considered for the buildings than it can be said that.
For future safety and health perspective the Millennium Mills can be developed as
residential building to providing safe and secure housing to people. This process will be
really easy and economic for development.
