THE MIND OF THE MAKER 1
Summary
“Mind of the maker” by Dorothy Sayers explains the statements of Catholic Church regrading
god’s nature. It is an explanation of the Catholic Church’s statements about the nature of God.
Also, she intends to elucidate the Doctrine of Trinity by describing the God as creator of all
things.
Three Aspects of the Creative Mind
Three aspects of creative mind are the three heavenly and divine persons: The Holy Spirit, the
son and the father. Although, these divine persons are assumed to be distinct from each other, all
three of them are god. According to the doctrine of trinity, Christ should be his own son and own
father. There is only one god in three different persons and they are not individual part of God,
instead they are fully and equally god. The differences inside the Godhead are not the differences
of his soul or essence but are the unveiling of God’s undivided and one being into interpersonal
relationship between three divine persons.
Their Origin
The three divine elements were viewed as codified doctrine. Trinity was defined as a god by
Theophilus of Antioch in the aftermath of 2nd century. He defined the Trinity as God, his words
as Logos and his wisdom as Sophia while discussing the initial days of creation. He clearly
defined trinity as Holi Spirit, Son and Father which interpreted the scriptural passages as relevant
to affirm a dignity that is threefold (Bates, M. W. 2015). All the scholars have recognized that
the Faiths and Creed were created in reaction to disagreement between the nature of Holy Spirit,
Son and Father. In fourth century, Arius taught that Father was born and existed before the son
who was not god but instead a variable creature who was offered the self-worth of becoming

“God’s Son”. Creed defined the relationship amongst Son and father which was recognized as
orthodoxy Hallmark which further got developed into “one being, three persons”.
Their Relationship to Trinity.
Christians believe in only one god and this one single god is the trinity for divine persons. The
meaning of Trinity (Godhead) is the one single divine being which comprises three divine
people. Often, God means only “single divine person” and “the trinity” which depicts that God
who is qualified as being “the father” is single divine individual. God the spirit, Son and father
are each considered as an essential part or component of the trinity that is God.
Update for CS/IT
Dorothy L. Sayers has defined clearly a 3-step process of creativity to analyze the creation
process of a writer. She has written that Power, Idea and Energy are the foundational elements
for the creative process. Idea is depicted as an invisible image that offers unity and vision
throughout the project (Sayers, D. L. 2010). The Energy is the flowing out of art into a
connection or medium. The Power is defined as the force which connects and binds the person to
both the audience as well as his profession.
An information technologist embeds these elements of creative process into his profession by
implementing Power, Energy and Idea into his work to deliver the best output. An information
technologist develops a vision and unity which can be defined as Idea, i.e. the first part of a 3
step creative process to provide integrated, reliable and secure technology solution to align
administrative goals to offer excellence in consumer services. The energy for an Information
technologist may be to incorporate excellence in his operations by developing a constructive,
team oriented and shared environment. Accessibility, reliability, agility and consistency are the

main elements in an Energy driven Creative process. The Information Technologist upholds the
Power, i.e. the force which helps to sustain his critical and creative thinking to develop the
technological services solution. . These are eternally and equally present in the own creation act
and also at each moment of it, if the operations related to his work becomes evident. These three
elements are existing in the creative minds of the Information Technologist.
