In modern era, there are many companies which are operating their business in all
over the world. They aim to deliver high quality products and services in respect to make
good position in the market and to gain competitive advantages. In respect to carry out all
the business activities in an effective manner it is important to hire skilled employees,
trained them and fulfil their requirements (Hanushek, Schwerdt and Woessmann, 2015). In
order to accomplish aims and objectives it is important to motivate employees to work
hard. There are different ways through which employees can be motivated. To provide
wages for each day and when it is accomplished it lead to boost the up moral of individual
to work. As per the perspective of the company wages are known as essential expenses
which help in carrying out business work. The present research is based on developing
understanding related to the minimum wages all over the world and universal declaration
of human rights control over them. For firms, when minimum wages are set then it is
important to increase their total expenses in order to meet the requirements and make
profits

Scope of the project
The present research will provide depth information related to the minimum wages
and its impact on the firm and its profit. Before hiring employees, it is important to set a
minimum wage rage for each employee which motivate them to work hard for the company
to accomplish success (Freeman, 2016). There are various nations who has introduced
policies to provide minimum wage rate to the workers so that they can live standard live.
This research will help companies to set their minimum wage rate for employees as per
the government laws and legislation.
Literature review
According to the view of Edmans, Li and Zhang, (2014) the origin of minimum
wage was originated in year 1349. The reason for keeping minimum wage rate is to boost
employee’s moral so that they can put their efforts in respect to carry out business
activities. There were many labours who involved in conflict as because the were affected
with industrial nations. In UK, 1909 minimum wage related policy was implemented by the
government. Demirgüç-Kunt, Kane and Laeven, (2015) argued that there were various
considerations made in respect to identify the minimum wage. In relation to this, it
considers, factors such as prevailing wage rated to focused by labour force survey and
socio-economic indicator which assist to better workers protection. In respect to all the
minimum wage rate help in determining productivity pay which is effective for both
employees as well as firm. Wage rate which is provide to employees are based on working
hours (Edson, Henning and Sankaran, 2016). For instance, employees are provided with
11.50$ per hour which is the considered as highest state of minimum wage. On the other
side, company can also pay its employees as such as tipped labour. National minimum
wage rate was introduced in 1948 and this policy was undertaken on the basis of Indian
labour law. Bhorat, Kanbur and Stanwix, (2017) explained that some of the effect of
minimum wage rate is such as job hunt motivation, moral etc. at the time when there were
low skilled workers then company do not have any type of job hunting, this minimum pay
rate has help in calculating income which can be generated through a job. Hanushek,
Schwerdt and Woessmann (2015) state that human right has played significant role in
respect to control the wages of workers. Through increasing the wage rate company can
easily accomplish the human and civil rights. According to the human right it is essential
that employees get equal opportunities in respect to get proper wage rate which help them

of broad assumptions (Kerr, Eckert and Wandwabwa, 2016). It is of two kinds inductive
and deductive. For the present research inductive approach will be applied by the scholar
in respect to collect the general information first then move toward the specific one. The
inductive approach is lead to start with observation and theories which are proposed
toward the end of the research process. It leads to involve search pattern from observation
to the development of the theories. Reason for selecting indictive approach is that it aims
to generate meaning from the data set collected in respect to identify the patterns and
relationship.
Data collection
In order to conduct depth analysis, it is important to collect information from different
sources. There are two sources of data collection that are primary and secondary (Wright,
Wahoush. and Jack, 2016). For the present research secondary method is used to collect
the information. Secondary information is basically existing information and considered as
second-hand data. It will help the researcher to gain depth information related to the
minimum wage rate and the way it can affect the employees and employers. It will also
help in making research more strong and reliable. Here, different books journal articles
and internet is taken into consideration for conducting depth analysis.
