Part one - Research
The research was conducted for studying the impact of the crowdsourcing on the industry of the
mining. The research was conducted using the different journals that were created on the
specified technology and the industry. The research done to support and understand the topic is
summarized here in the two parts, one is the technology in which the crowdsourcing is studied
and the second in which the industry is studied.
Technology
From the research, it was found, that the crowdsourcing is the type of the sourcing model using
which the enterprises/industries acquire the goods and services. The services that are acquired
using the crowdsourcing are the finance and various ideas from the large group of the frequent
internet service user. In this approach, the work is divided amongst the different participants in
order the best and cumulative result. The main advantage of using the crowdsourcing includes
the improvement of the costing, speed, and quality of work and enhanced scalability and
flexibility of work. (Brabham, 2013).
There are two different sourcing models that are used by the enterprises/industries: outsourcing
and crowdsourcing. The feature that distinguishes one from other is the crowd that is the part of
this model. In the outsourcing models, the output is generated by involving a named or specified
groups and people in which the strategy of work can be both from the top to down and the
reverse. Whereas, in the crowdsourcing model the people involved are less specific and are
generally more public (Estellés-Arolas, & González-Ladrón-De-Guevara, 2012).
Industry
Mining is the process of extracting and digging out minerals, ore from mines. The entire mining
industry deals with the same process. Mining can be done in two ways either surface mining or
underground mining. More of the mining is done on surface and it is also simple and safer than
underground mining. The major work that is required in mining industry is the extraction and
digging of minerals and ore from the mines with the help of a huge number of mine workers. The
other employees in the mines include engineers, geologists, environmental specialists, lab
technicians, etc. who are linked directly to the mining industry (Economy Watch, 2010). Some of
the personnel are there who are linked indirectly with this industry namely lawyers, accountant,

relation personal officer, sales representatives, etc. coal mining was majorly used for extracting
fuel for the energy sources since 19th century. It also supports the global economy today. There
are various techniques of underground mines that have been used in the mining like room-and-
pillar techniques, longwall method (Planete energies, 2015). Mining industries are also required
heavy machinery and are totally dependent on these machines. Machines may function like rock
breaker, drilling, rock remover, carrying rocks, drilling, carry out the explosion, etc. the mining
industry is prone to safety issues. Workers working in the mines face issues like poisonous gases,
improper ventilation, toxicants, etc. that can harm them physically and may also lead to death
(Economy Watch, 2010).

Part two – Brainstorming
The mining industries in the world are the biggest contributor to the global economy and provide
more opportunities for employment. They help in providing minerals and energy sources to the
other normal citizens as well as the other production industries. The mining industry is
dependent on extracting the resources from the earth surface or from the underground. In today's
world, the mining is a very common process, and this process has been done too much extent
that the earth’s upper layer is depleting. There are four types of mining like open surface,
underground, in-situ and placer mining. From all of these mining underground mining is a very
expensive process (Bailey, 2016).

(source: Bailey, 2016)
The mining industry also faces various issues related to health, safety, access to energy, capital
access, environmental footprint, etc., the problems may be business related as well. In order to
solve the business-related problem few technologies can be used, as follows:
Impact 1
Artificial intelligence has not been predicted as a part of technical advancement in the mining
industry, and today it is a game changer for a number of businesses added to the mining industry.
AI can be the potential technology to impact the technological framework of the in the future
perspective. Since the mining plays a contributive role of increasing the economy of the country
as well as the increasing employment, the machine learning and AI can also be used to perform

big data analytics and manipulations in this industry for further growth. Like Rio Tinto have put
the AI technology in haul trucks in iron mines. This truck with haulage system automation helps
the company with much beneficiaries like increased productivity, less load and lower haul
cost/unit in comparison to the previous trucks (Hyder, Siau & Nah 2018).
So, AI helps the mines to operate effectively without any delays. Machine learning can be used
in predicting degradation and failure. Thus, it can help the company to make proper planning
and implement them in an effective manner. It can also help in making an exact measurement of
chemicals used in mining so that it can be managed to reduce environmental changes and cost
Dare, E. (2018).

Impact 2
Geographical Computer system (GIS) is the information system that is purposely designed to
store, capture, manipulate, manage, analyze and present a different variety of geographical data.
The term Geographical used in the system is used because the data used will be spatial. GIS was
basically used for decision making and problem-solving. There are The GIS data can be used to
analyze and find the location and relation of the different features like where do the features
exist. Using a GIS system, spatial location can be mapped to visualize the relation between
different spatial data. The result after the mapping can be used to map the quantities like where
does most of the quantity is accumulated and to analyze the relationship among different places.
The density can also be mapped to quantify the area and total number. The main feature for

which the GIS was used is to find the feature at a specific location. It can determine what is
going on in a particular region or inside a specific region. It can also be used to determine the
potential property damage cost. It is capable of finding what is near the particular space. GIS also
stores the previous data and can be used to compare the changes that have occurred in the maps
(Dempsey, 2018).
Impact 3
The Internet is helpful for everyone in the present scenario. Since years the internet has helped
every age group for accessing data and sharing information whether it is a student, office person,
grandparents, companies, etc. The Internet allows devices to connect through a network of
several devices. Today the internet has covered the entire world with its power. Internet is not
just a set of facilities and services, it is a global communication system for a computer or mobile
devices that can revolutionize the way it has been done before. The journey of the internet had
been started from the researchers and scientists, then this global power reached to local people
and connected billions of them. Celebrities also connect to their fans using the internet. Even
individuals find their life partner online. Nowadays, the majority of businesses are conducted
online and through this, they are earning a lot. The government also uses internet for security
policies along with the distribution of information among public. The internet has a huge impact
on our lives that without this one cannot imagine their life. It was deeply embedded in our lives.
Similarly, the internet can be used in the mining industry to solve the business process through
outsourcing (Comer, 2018).
Focus Impact
Internet was the highest implemented technology that has been used by various organizations
and people around the globe. Internet helps in providing communication and services related to
the network. It aids the government to help in the publishing policies and rules to the citizens.
Internet will be the major focal point of the report that will be evaluated in further parts.

Part three – Regulations and Ethics
Market
To say about internet, it is connecting us to various people across the globe. The information and
knowledge can be shared with just one click. In the world of internet, crowdsourcing is
emerging. Crowdsourcing is becoming a trend in every possible study. The crowdsourcing can
be incorporated in mining industry with help of internet. It can solve the major problems and
requests of mining industry. This leads to gathering innovative knowledge by people present on
globe and implement in culture of mining. There is one of the examples which can be considered
in mining industry to understand the philosophy and gaining precious knowledge from mining it
particularly. The industry of Canada i.e. Goldcorp was facing a major issue. The issue was that
their production of gold was declining day by day and at last, there were no reserves for gold.
This organization then crowdsource all information relating to these reserves on the internet and
ask people about how this problem could be solved. They also offer the price for this thus
inspiring the people to participate. Many people present on globe participated and find out the
innovative knowledge as for how this problem could be solved. By this precious information,
they were able to solve the issue and completed 110 targets (Visser, 2010).
From the above example, we can understand that through crowdsourcing can handle various
issues could be solved and thus acquiring the goal. The people present on the globe also get the
compensation. By this, the innovative parameter could be increased. It also creates
decentralization in the market (Khare, 2015). The market of internet is vast as there are people
interacting on globe. Both organizations and people can gain profit through crowdsourcing on
internet.
Law
For internet, there is one law which is followed that is cyber law. It includes all required legal
issues regarding internet. There are various laws which are needed in crowdsourcing by internet.
There are various laws which should be considered by participant while crowdsourcing by
internet. These are as follows:
Fooling should not be done related to crowdsourced data.
Sending any promotional adds should not adhere without permission of that website
organization.

Transparency should be there in terms of information about knowledge.
There should be transparency in every information that is passed.
If any project is abandoned then the cash of that should be refunded. This can be ensured by
checking all crowdsourced projects.
The data or information should be copyrighted.
Plagiarism of work should not adhere while crowdsourcing.
Piracy should not adhere to events of crowdsourcing by the internet.
Freedom of speech in events of crowdsourcing by internet should adhere.
The prescribed usage and rules of data should be considered while crowdsourcing by
internet. This pertains to both organization and people (Melnik, 2012).
The laws that should be incorporated while crowdsourcing is:
1. Accountability of content
2. Readability of content
3. Legitimacy of content
Ethical
The basic norm of internet is:
Identification: The identification of specific public is done to communicate with them.
Sharing: The data is shared to the people so that interesting knowledge can be gained by
public.
Influence: The influencing is done by the price money.
There is various discussion prevailing in terms of crowdsourcing by internet is on all fairness of
information and ethics of crowdsourcing. There are 2 controversies related to crowdsourcing by
internet. Sometimes it is been criticized. Sometimes it's been defended, that the labor is not
appropriately paid according to information conserved through crowdsourcing. Through the
study in this paper, it is found that fairness of payments should be there by crowdsourcing by
internet. Also, the transparency of information which leads to open communication in it. The
compensation should be based on the quality or meritocracy of the work on internet. The
requirements should adhere while crowdsourcing or reason of crowdsourcing that particular
thing should be transparent to people on globe (Hanckel, 2011).

Figure 3: Architecture of crowdsourcing by internet
(Source: Research gate)
The architecture of crowdsourcing by internet includes various phases which are as follows:
1. The organization or requests uploads the task related information with all requirements to the
internet with price money.
2. The crowd or people available on globe try to solve all requirements by given data on mining
industry.
3. After the work is done by the people is uploaded on internet.
4. The task is evaluated by organization or requester and according to quality and meritocracy,
the price money is allocated to that person.
5. The task or knowledge is used in various decision relating to task (Thawrani, V., Londhe, N.
D., & Singh, R. ,2014).
