Introduction
Background
The study would be focused towards evaluating the various aspects that determine the
effectiveness of Knowledge management systems across various organizations. The organization
selected for the study is the Ministry of Interior, Government of Oman.
Research Aim
The aim is to provide a critical appraisal of the chosen organization and the situational
factors that can determine the effectiveness of the knowledge management processes that are
implemented in the organization. More emphasis would be provided to the KM aspects of
knowledge acquisition and application.
Research Objectives
To understand the knowledge application and acquisition framework at Microsoft
To evaluate the knowledge application and acquisition framework at Microsoft
To analyze the effectiveness of KM for corporate organizations
To provide effective recommendations considering the generated findings
Literature Review
The consulted literatures would be based on the KM aspects that are essentially
considered at Microsoft. Additionally the literatures that have considered essentially the various
aspects of knowledge management would be focused. Knowledge management is the effective
storing, acquisition, utilization and evaluation of information in any corporate environments. It is
how organizations tend to manage and utilize its knowledge resources and align them with their
publics. Knowledge acquisition and application would be focused in the study as a significant

aspect. This would provide the study the much needed framework to understand the role of any
organization in KM. According to Hislop, Bosua & Helms (2018) Knowledge management has
become an important prospect for organizations as the current corporate scenarios are rapidly
changing. Nonaka & Toyama (2015) opine that Knowledge is created through dynamic
interactions between various individuals. These aspects of knowledge management would be
greatly utilized to define the factors that tend to govern KM. The case study based analysis has
would help in the gathering of essential information about management aspects of knowledge.
Knowledge management has become far more relevant as modern business run essentially on the
kind of knowledge they are able to gain from their surrounding environment.
Methodology
The methodology that has been utilized for the study is greatly qualitative. This has
helped gathering information much easier as there are various case studies that are available in
regards to knowledge management functions. A positive approach would be taken that would test
the practices that are prevalent in the given environment of an organization in light of best
practices that can be understood from various journals, books and articles concerning KM.
Qualitative research would mostly be based on case study analysis. Data would be collected from
various books, journals and articles that are relevant in regards to KM in various organizations.
Conclusion
In conclusion the proposal puts forward all the essential factors that would be relevant in
view of the research that is to take place. The study would be focused towards gaining a deeper
understanding of the concepts that are related to Knowledge Management. The organization on
focus would help to create a clearer understanding of relevant KM systems.
